Can LOVE a person, and not LIKE them?

Would you like to share an example?

I think that would be a very strange thing to achieve. Isn't it so that liking is a pre-stage to loving?

Yes indeed, that is how a lot of people feel about members of their family where the families do not have great relationships. We do not choose our biological relations. They may be people we do not like at all but as they share our blood we still love them.

Let's consider God's throne room, and Adolf Hitler is standing before the most high being judged.  Say, we are present for his judgement and sentencing.  Obviously we would be witness to his atrocities.  What if we saw him in his complete life's timeline.  What if we seen him abused as a little boy.  What if we saw mean teachers who didn't care.  Now, for the record, I'm not defending him.  It could easily be someone else.  Point is; we would see his whole life flash before our eyes.
Given an analogy like that, and given we are commanded to love, but only through the Spirit since we ourselves don't posses that kind of love.  I think I lost myself down  a rabbit hole here.  Ok, re-grouping my thoughts now.  If we were to really know someone from cradle to grave, perhaps we could bypass the like part and have godly love.
I don't know, does this make sense?

God didn't like me or my sin but loved me enough to send his Son to die for me.  That settles the question for me.

Are we talking of the love that robs you of your sleep and appetite, or true, lasting love? If we are referring to true lasting love then yes of course we can. Love, as in Agape, is simply an act of the will. According to the Lord Jesus Christ we are required to love everyone, including our enemies and even to pray for those who persecute us. Liking someone has very little to do with Agape.
