Has a strategy of persistent lying worked for the Republicans, or has permanent damage been done?

Republicans do lie a lot but so do the dems,  look at our current president who promised he would cut the debt in half in 4 years instead it has gotten worse. They all lie trust me.

Obama has created damage but it can be fixed. I don't believe the Democans or Republicrats can fix this country.

Take an objective look at what both sides claim - there is plenty of lying to go around.

I wonder if the question should be; Who believes the lies spewed by both sides? The true believers on both sides will accept any crap they are fed which is why independents decide elections.
I think the lies reinforce the false beliefs held by ideologues, sway a few ignorant people and frustrate those who pay stay informed about the issues.

I afraid that permanent damage has been done, the attention on the female reproduction issue The stupid statements from Sanitorium attacking college attendence, the attack from Newter, critisizing the President for apologizing about the Koran burning. As long as principles are not compromise an apology is warranted that blunts terrorist recruitment and saves lives. The smoke and mirrors moved aside, the rightwinger is getting the message across to us all crystal clear. It is now Rightwinger RAW and now that everybody is allowed to see what it is all about, the only adherents that they will have will be the 'flat earth' people and who pays any attention to them? The GOP is moribund and I doubt that it will have time to recover before November

I would love to believe permanent damage has been done, but Bush lied about WMD's in Iraq, and the Republicans are still a viable party.  How?  I don't know.  But they are, so lying doesn't seem to have had the effect it should.  They support the policies that got us into this mess, and pretend to be "new."  Topsy turvy world!

One unifying theme the Republicans haven't lied about is how much they loathe President Obama. Maybe a better question might be what the GOP doesn't lie about?

The Liars....  That sounds like an incredibly big, all-star, third party. All kidding aside, I find it hard to trust any of them. Character does not fall on the political party. It falls on the people that make it up. With all the partisanship, corruption, mistakes, and cover ups,    it's hard to have confidence in any of these people. It also really bothers me that the people that are being elected to these offices are the ones that can out-spend their opponent. If your middle name is "Super Pac", your man will win.

Strategy? What strategy. Politics and lying have been best buds for quite some time. If that's their plan, then we are in over our heads.  The knowledgeable public knows to take what they say and play devil's advocate or play it off as campaign rhetoric. The rest of America believes every word as gospel.  Their strategy will work on the later.

So has it worked? I would say yes on those with closed minds that believe if it was said in public it is true.  They have those votes.

Permanent damage has been done within the minds of those that really understand what is going on. They won't like anyone....and may decide not to vote.

Permanent damage has been done by both political parties when they control Congress and or the Presidency. The proof is in the condition of the country today. Both parties had control of Congress and the Presidency at one time, and neither party did anything to change the result to positive.

This should be a lesson to the loyal party voter, the party, your party whichever one it is didn't save the country. So you can continue the system that has failed, or you can cross party lines to find the best candidate. Also, if an incumbent doesn't meet their promises from the last election, put them back in the private sector.
