I think as long as the individual is professional and has great work ethics, then bold hair coloring (though it may be a distraction and the talk of the office) should not impact how that person is viewed or characterized. If bold hair colors violate office or dress code policies, then it would be banned by administrators. Otherwise, although it's unconventional and nontraditional; it should be ok. There are far worse things that affect office morale in a professional work environment than the color of someone's hair.

We have a family friend who has naturally black hair.  However, she dyes her hair hot pink.  Mind you, this lady is over forty years old.  She is a journalist and works in China for a small town newspaper and magazine.  She has been dyeing her hair for the past fifteen years or so.  We have become used to it.

I do not want to see my doctor, dentist or lawyer sporting bright blue, green or pink hair.  However, in this day and age I went into this awesome architect's office to see a cute girl behind the counter with different colors in her hair and dread locks.  Now this might be too much for most people, but it seemed to fit her personality well.  You cannot judge a book by its cover.  One of my stylist has pink and green in his hair, but of course this is our profession and I sometimes need guinea pigs.  Not to mention that my massage therapist has violet highlights in her hair, again, another one of my experiments.  I live in a college town so I view things differently and have alot of clients that are from all over the world.  You also have to keep in mind that some of these people might be the "artistic" type and they are just expressing themselves.
