At this point, it seems self-evident that Mitt Romney will win the Republican nomination for president. The reason is that the more conservative candidates have been undisciplined in their campaigns and too often allowed themselves to stray off message. Santorum had a great shot then he started making extreme statements that had very little to do with why we should vote for him. Ron Paul makes some interesting arguments, but he does not look or sound presidential. Romney is an Obama look-a-like in terms of social outlook, but has more business savvy then the rest of the Republican candidates. As President Clinton used to say to himself "it's the economy, stupid." However, one could point out that our last president (George W. Bush) was supposed to be the first businessman to be elected into the Oval Office and look where we are today. Of course the problems he had were in large part due to 9/11 and the need to fight at least one war on foreign soil.
