the untited states is a republic of freedom, not oppression. at times it is vested to the government certain powers to exercise safeguards in defense of public and federal buildings. also included are lands belonging to and associated to the federal govt ...but never on the streets.
totalitarian regimes employ such measures to squash resistance and unrest that questions or undermines its grip of fear ultimately by terror.
Caesar did that; he marched his army into Rome for the first time in its great history as a republic. call it a springboard. make the comparison. its a true and tested one. Bejing China comes to mind - Fascism, Stalin-ism, Nazi-ism- Mao-ism... a lotta "Ism's" to curtail and oppress individual-ism! these are great examples of how things go so wrong so quickly- the major players in these past 70 years alone. history ought to answer any doubt!
