Greed is a natural state of man. It is stronger in some than in others and is at the root of many other ills in society. Theft, murder and other crimes can stem from greed, but can be tempered by social and ethical means. An adherence to the 10 Commandments can help reduce the urge, or at least actions, associated with greed. As we have deconstructed the family and placed high levels of responsibility on the government and less on the individual and the local community, we have seen an increase in greed. Greed will always exist, but it can be tempered.
