    Mercy? No.

Punishment, if found guilty, should be determined according to the psych evaluations I'm sure are coming.

About the same mercy he gave those people he shot and killed--including a 6 year old child whose mother survived.  No, I cannot imagine this man deserving or even understanding the concept of mercy.

mercy,.... is best given to those who least deserve it but most benefit from it,.... maybe it should be aplied with that in mind,.... punishmnt should reflect the crime,.... but mercy should reflect the soul,... both of the redemed and the redemer.

ok,.... i'm off my stump now,....

put the tourtured little f**Ktard in a box and study him for 20 years,... maybe we'll learn something valuable about ourselves,.... he is one of us after all,... reg guy, went to college, got degree, did everything right, vounteered at summer camp, helped out under priveledged kids, got good grades,........

he wasnt molested that we know of, his mother loved him, his dad probably hugged him, his friends never saw this comming,.... he didnt do drugs, had no criminal record,....

just like the most of us all,...

and yet he felt soo miserably alone that THIS became an option,.... i'd say theres a lot to learn from this,.... about him and ourselves.

No mercy...but...I will rely on the justice system. I think he did this to get attention because he obviously has something to say. We should find out what that is first. I wish we could hear his motives before he is executed or imprisoned for life. I don't think he is crazy. That's too easy and that's also what they said about McVey who turned out to have a lot to say. Crazy people cannot do what he did.

Peter William Sutcliffe also known as the yorkshire ripper killed 13 and tried to kill several more. He is insane "crazy" and currently in a hospital. Ask yourself why would someone need that kind of attention unless something is wrong in their head.

In fact, people with very disturbed minds are capable of plotting out and carrying through with mass murder and serial killings.  They can have split personalities -- one that seems very ordinary and another that is capable of a detailed crime.

No BUT he should be given his right to a fair trial. If there really is something wrong with him that should be taken into consideration. I believe many feel so much anger they can't get past the crime to ask themselves, Would any sane person do this. Truthfully I think this may end up to be a perfect example of another Einstein. So smart he became crazy. I will also bet that even if he is insane he will not be given a proper trial.

God may show him mercy. Were I on the jury, I would not.

People with such preconceptions don't usually end up being selected to do jury service.

Two words: "Hell" and "No." I hope his candy-ass has fun spending the rest of his life in the deepest, darkest, most hellish prison we have.

At this point Holmes is only a "suspect" under the law.  He will be examined extensively.  An MRI of his brain may show that he has developed a lesion, a tumor or who knows what -- and this could account for his probable actions.  A psychoanalysis may reveal that he developed a psychosis.  How accountable is a human being under these conditions -- conditions under which he had no control?  If it is determined that he is sane then he will be subjected to the verdict of a jury.  We do not have to contemplate matters of "mercy" in our society because the old west is gone, and everyone (except celebrities) are subject to the same legal system that hold us all accountable.
