Wow! How intolerant...someone actually voted this down. I don't want to be at your place at the pagan festival of Christmas...lol...gotta love it.
What, have you no tolerance for down votes?
Just the fact that someone voted it down is a perfect illustration of your point though right?
Yep, there always a wild card...a contrarian who will not bend...I can tolerate it. I have big shoulders...but my back aches a little...too much golf?
“The test of courage comes when we are in the minority. The test of tolerance comes when we are in the majority.” – Ralph W. Sockman This is the lesson for Christians today.
And it did not take 10 minutes to prove my point... JThomp and putnut, wanting to establish a belief on other people. Liberals could care less what you believe as long as your religious doctrine does not force us to do something we don't believe in.
Chuck, they aren't pushing anything, all they are saying is that Liberalism is doing away with religion. How else do you explain, banning the words "under God" in the pledge in schools? The attack on Guns? The Healthcare law....
What do guns and healthcare have to do with religion? Children learn God in church, school should be about knowledge.
@manningnd: your question was exactly what popped into my mind when I read this!
I'm with Chuck...get your noses out of my business and let "freedom reign"...it's not in the bible...but it's in the Declaration of Independence...free speech, free will, freedom to pursue happiness, freedom of information...but no "you will follow"?
I was listing just a few of the things that liberals ram down our thoats...Chuck was claiming that JThomp and Putnut were wanting to ram religion down the conservative throat when he overlooked what the liberals do. That all.
I'm not trying to force my belief on anyone, just stating what I believe, and once again attacked for it by those who call me intolerant because I supposedly won't allow them to believe what they want because I simply disagree.
How can liberals do away with God? You can worship anywhere you want...but why cram it down a kid's throat...can't your minister do that...give a child a chance to learn how to learn...instead of indoctrination by age five...that's a Catholic trick.
randslam... don't you teach your children your particular set of beliefs, if you have any. If you don't, believe me, you would teach them your ideology either on purpose or through osmosis.
First, I never said that liberals are not guilty of forcing beliefs on people. They get just as wound around the axel as anyone else. Second, the conservatives do not even hear what they are saying. The respondents here, on the conservative side, are
I'm not conservative, I am a Christian. I don't get involved in politics, same as Jesus. When they tried to make him king, he left. Christians are supposed to be preaching the Kingdom of God, not man's governments.(which have all been failures. btw)
If obama is reelected, look for further erosions of those freedoms of which you speak.
This really isn't a controversy...have your god...just don't put it on me...called "freedom of religion"...this is what America stands for.
Why must people as you be so hostile about it. I really feel sorry for you when Jesus returns.
Randslam, there has been no state church in America since the colonial era. No one is forced to support one. There is a state ideology in the US, the progressivism of the liberal establishment. All taxpayers are forced to support that. No difference.
Attikos. You said it right. They are trying to force all of us to believe what they do, like that gay is ok, abortion is just like curing cancer, greed is good, no wrong but what they say is wrong at the moment, etc.
You people must not actually live in America. Because no one here as ever been forced to marry a gay, and no one has been forced to have an abortion. I pay for stuff I don't agree with too, that is part of being an American.
But we get attacked brutally for saying what we believe.
No sir. We respect your right to believe. We are just trying to get back to equal ground and keep the First Amendment from being trampled on by fundamentalists.
It is wrong to attack someone for their beliefs, but there is a difference between belief and policy. I abhor abortion and will talk as many people out of it as I can, but my beliefs should not become policy.
God and gay are separate issues unless you are a Levite. Jesus never mentioned gay (but did repeatedly speak out against Leviticus) and Paul never spoke bad about gay if you go back and read his work in its original Greek. Research that.
Actually the theory of Eternal Reoccurence would not require a god...only the activity of the physical universe. Scientists are now showing how something can actually come from nothing...goodbye Creationism...boohoo...bad theory anyway.
Surely no one denies that we can accurately measure speed, or that we can measure distance with light. Look at the stars tonight, if we can see it and it is 8 billion light years away it has been there at least 8 billion years.
manningnd apparently has no actual Bible knowledge. They are wrong on both points they made in reference to it. Jesus never spoke about gay, but he never spoke against Leviticus, either. (where did you hear that garbage?) Paul was very clear about it
As for the universe starting 8 billion years ago...sure...but it may have been after an earlier implosion that the universe started up again...ergo...Eternal Re-occurrence--the expanding and shrinking of matter--for all eternity. Lots of big bangs.
Anyone who has done in depth and unbiased research into the matter would NOT agree that their definitely must be a Creator. If a theory was written and scientists had evaluated the data and found it to be true, someone would have gotten a Nobel prize
compare leviticus 24:20 to mathew 5:38. Any time Jesus says you have hear it said by them of old, there is a corresponding passage in Leviticus that he is directly contradicting. Look it up. Being told what the Bible says is not knowing what it says.
Jesus wasn't speaking out against Leviticus. The Mosaic Law (including Leviticus) was for the Israelites, and served them for centuries, But Jesus was instituting a new way to be as a Christian. Same with those who live by the sword will die by it .
Jesus contradicted Leviticus repeatedly because they were man made laws added to the law of Moses. When Paul was translated few people read greek so it was easy to change things. Now we know the word mistranslated to gay referred to male prostitutes
Creationism and Evolution have been, to varying degrees, unified since evolution became a science. Anyone can have a creator. I prefer evolution. If there was an all seeing entity that snapped electricity into aminos... great. No more arguement.
