who was responsible for India's division in two countries? Had it been better if India was undivided

There is going on hot discussion whether Jinnah was responsible or Congressmen for India's division into two countries. It is believed that Mr Jinnah was not given due share in power and this made him adamant for partition of the country. Kindly express your views and offer a critical answer without a bias towards any religion or country.

Religious wars.  Religious stupidity.  One stupid wog religion against another.  This is a critical answer without a bias towards any religion or country, as Islam, Hinduism, whatever, are all stupid, and who cares about which country is right, when both are wrong.

Whatever Dabeaner said ... stupid religions create so many problems in this world - will people ever wake up to see this?

Congress in India deceitfully has recently won the elections sabotaging the Electronic Voting Machines.

If there were fair elections congress would have scrapped through about 100 to 120 seats and BJP with some 250 to 270 seats would have formed the government.

BJP which was dreaming of forming the government was shocked, and shock they should be.

BJP thought that Gandhiji's  name still is doing the rounds in the minds of Indian people and people still believe that congress brought them freedom through Gandhi to India.   Hence somehow the congress name should be tarnished and this should start from the day of its birth and that is the day of independence.  Hence Jaswant was given the job of writing a book to tarnish congress.

Neverthless all politicians are worst who care for themselves and not for the people whom they voted.

The country is already divided, no need to bring Gandhi into the matter. freedom was not achieved that easy as we think. So it is better for both nations not to interfere in the matters of other as they do now..

There were more than one reason for India's division...
    (1) Poet Iqbal.
    (2) Mohamed Ali Jinnah.
    (3) Jawaharlal Nehru  and Congress party.
    (4) Religious fanaticism on both sides.
    (5) Traditional "divide and rule" policy of England.

Last but not least is the main reason for the division.  For those who ruled India for 90 years (1857-1947), it would have been easy for them to put down uprisings by the separatists, who, till date continue to be "separatists". But the English govt. encouraged Jinnah from behind and made him a hero just to fulfill their aspirations of colonising India again. For those who staged the Jallianwalah Bagh massacre in 1919, it would have been easier to deal will Jinnah & Co.

If India was not divided, it would now be the largest country in the world and would have overtaken China and USA in terms of economy and population. The people of Pakistan would now be in a better economic position and their talents would have been utilised for creative purposes.

The negative attitudes of both the sides are responsible for the partition, the ego clash, the religious fanaticism, the superior complex. The so called leaders of both sides are responsible.

Frankly speaking it was not Jinnah, not Nehru. It was Lord Mountbatten and his plan. Mountbatten did the partition easily and it was decided if I am not mistaken that the British were to leave before JUNE-JULY 1947. But I think Mountbatten should have thought 100 times before giving independence to INDIA and partitioning it into an INDEPENDENT MUSLIM STATE.

I personally think it would be better if we have undivided India. When India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Burma will be united to be one nation. Then I can say that we got independence.
