Were the South African police justified in gunning down the striking miners?


In South Africa striking miners armed with spears and machetes hacked two police officers to death. Days later in retaliation the police opened fire on the protesters killing 34 and wounding approx 70, Were police actions justified in order to stem further unrest?

    There is such a thing as "peaceful protest". These people do not look very peaceful. They need to learn the rules. Re; Gandhi, Martin Luther King

    A very hard lesson is always learned when one attempts to fight the system with force. Unlike the Arab uprising this has nothing to do with social or political change but rather economic change. The right tactics must be employed
