Which of the United States has the largest economy?
Of the 50 states which one has the largest economy? Why is this so? How does this states economy differ from other states?
I believe it is California. It is the 12 largest economy in the world.
Hello bankscottage! I remember at one time that Calfironia was the 8th largest economy in the world... any clue about why it has fallen?
The largest is California's, though it is in decline with no restoration of health in sight. Texas has the most vibrant and appears to be headed for the No. 1 position, though that conclusion is under heavy attack now from leftist statists spitting hatred of the red state economic model.
Hello Attikos! Do you have any insight as to what is causing CA economy to drop? What is stimulating TX? What are the leftists saying? is there truth or is it just politics?
The short answer is overregulation and overspending in CA, a freer market and saner budgeting in TX. Krugman has published several columns lately that summarize the left's position on it. Both reality and politics are in it, but the record speaks.
Attikos: I live in CA... overspending is horrible here... and inflation on food items is up... that is really a scray sight because CA grows so much of the worlds food... or maybe it used to.
Texas is also a right to work state, and unions have no hold on public employees here. Unions have helped to destroy many state economies, including California's. Low taxes and regs help too, as already stated. Libs will say ed spending is too low.
