Pointing out race doesn't always help or hurt. In some situations it may help, other times it may harm, and still in other cases it may do neither. Generalizing whether pointing out race is good or bad is not a good thing because each situation is specific. Pointing out race doesn't always indicate racism but it can. So many people want to generalize that mentioning race means that someone is being overly sensitive or they are being racist. Sometimes taking race into account may aid in understanding specific situations but not always.
