What If we as Americans are being duped?

I am dong research for a new hub. This question is not intended to be a "conspiracy theory," and is a bipartisan question, not looking for arguements or political grandstanding. I am studying some American Political history and see that many times we have policy that makes many rich countered by policy that saves us from the suppossed "brink of disaster," then back again....Is our political policy a giant chess game of sorts. What if the people we fight so passionatley for/against are really on the same side?

This is what I've been screaming about Tammy, and that's precisely why I'm doing what I'm doing.  While Americans on the left and right passionatly defend their leaders, the same leaders from the left and right play golf together.  The important agreeements are never reached while congress is in session.  They are reached in the privacy of a restuarant or bar, or what ever.Congress is only in session 520 hours a year. Yeah, check it out.  Those guys put in the equivalent of a two day work week. We're paying these guys on both sides close to $300.00 an hour to drive this country into bankruptsy.  It's not a conspiracy.  It's the Washington Game, and they have righty and lefty fighting one another while they pick our pockets.  It's the A and B thinking we've been brainwashed into accepting.  If they control the questions, they control the answers. Thank you for posing this excellent question.

Jim, I started studying at the Nixon time due to my birth being 1971, and then I noticed the pattern.I have also been studying the propaganda of the 30's + in Germany...I think it is world wide, I think your org. will grow to an even higher purpose:)

I'm no history or political buff. but it seems to me that the whole foundation of our government and democracy is conflict. Example: Republicans and Democrats are like rubbing two sticks together. Their conflict creates something. Fire. The concept, I think, is party conflict is to create a product called compromise. (Yes, I know. What is that?) By this being the result, we feel that it's better to have everybody somewhat happy than to have one side laughing and the other side crying. Unfortunately, many times these conflicts get too extreme and decisions are made too quickly or out of desperation without considering the consequences or fallout of that. That's one way, among many, that create that " brink of disaster"
As far as for/ against. I feel that many times we don't really know which side we are on. Probably, the third side. We are a selfish society. A person that is willing to fight for anything, is fighting to benefit themselves.  They are not fighting for the issues of the world that can create a reasonably good life for all. They are trying to mold the world around their beliefs rather than to have their beliefs threatened or challenged. They have no ability to be open minded and as a result, they are cheating themselves.
There are a lot of people that genuinely care about the well being and happiness of others. But they don't fight. They are content with doing the best they can with what they have. And if they have more than they need, they give it to someone that doesn't have enough. You'll never find that attitude in politics. Politics is all about control which comes from selfishness. You have to be an egotist, walk all over a lot of people, tell a lot of untruths and be self-serving to get to or have the desire to be that prominent of a politician.

I agree, I call us the fast food country, give me what I want and give it to me now, LOL, we must become a more "conservative" society, not politically speaking, but personally, being less waistful and materialistic, it's our responsibility as humans

Perhaps real compromise will require "tripartisanship" to replace the presently non-functioning bipartisanship?  There are enough dissatisfied Americans to make up a strong third party from the mainstream, "silent majority" who are still waiting for their concerns to be addressed.  Perhaps they will find a way to gain a real voice?

Political policy is always a chess game, Tammy, played with a single goal in mind: to remain in office where the power and money are. If you look back to the Founders, they never imagined a professional class of politicians. Jefferson, for one, couldn't wait to return to Virginia. Serving the country was indeed a sacrifice that citizens made for the greater good. Periodic remedies have been floated of course, but they never get anywhere. Remember the push for term limits? How the recent Citizens United case that bestowed on corporations the ability to fund any campaign with as much money as possible? The times the country has approached the "brink of disaster" have been the result of a pernicious combination of unbridled greed and the ability of the powerful to manipulate the government and markets for personal benefit. You're right about two sides in every struggle: the haves and the have nots. Sorry for being so cynical, but I lost my innocence about politics when I discovered Thoreau's essay protesting the Mexican War and read more about it. That was loooong ago!

Thoreau was genious, I am hopeful many still exist, at the top of the page a great man has started a organization for a majority to be heard, maybe we can take this country back to the view of our founders if we can all come together. We did it once!

It's not really a question of "what if," it's a matter of how we prefer to get it. We were gleefully duped with that Hopey Changey thingy because the voters were fed up with W and his retardicans. Now we're trying to be duped by this Economic Responsibility thingy because we're fed up with O and his demwits.

You'd think we'd get tired of being date raped and choose someone of decent character to go with. We keep going out with liars, cheats and thieves, though, so I guess we're not. Maybe it's just a matter of variety being the spice of ... well, not life, but politics.

Attikos, Your right, we want to believe they represent the ideology inwhich we vote, but if that is all for "show" we have much bigger problems on our hands than the economy,we are again fighting for our freedom from the Aristocracy.

Both parties are funded from virtually the same sources. The only difference between the two party candidates is in the voters to which each tries to pander in order to win office. One side seeks to win over the religious extremists and racists. The other tries to scoop up votes from everyone else. The media and the public all focus on these aspects of politics and ignore the bigger picture. It doesn't matter who becomes president.

I think we, as Americans, have been duped for a long time.  And, I think it does go back to at least Nixon.  Since then, we have not been able to believe anything that comes out of politician's mouths.  Every action presidents or presidential candidates have taken has been for their own interests, the interests of the party, but certainly not for the best interests of the country.  Today, we are so far into debt to China that they literally own us.  We can't tell China what to do, how to do it, or when to do it.  They are going to be telling the U.S. what to do, when and how.  The President is frustrated because he can't get China to do what he wants economically.  Romney claims he will 'tell China to stop manipulating their currency.'  These two yahoos can't tell China to do anything.  We are too far into debt to them and someday soon they are going to call in their note.  Then the U.S. is going to be in a fix.   Sure, China wasn't dumb, they funded two wars for us by lending us the money.  And, we get stuck in these two quagmires because we don't learn from our own history.  I truly think this country is in a world of hurt, because we don't have honest leaders anymore - they are all beholden to big business, corporations, and foreign countries.

suzettenaples, I agree, my study began with the Nixon era, we will have to unite to fix this before it's too late, please check out the house fire project, I believe this man has a great plan.

You may want to look into "false flag" attacks and so on, since this is within that realm.  What goes on behind the scenes is a money-making game, and unfortunately, the gov. controls our mass media, our school curriculums, our healthcare and pharmaceuticals ("medicine"), as well as our food and water supplies--thus making it almost impossible to break through this massive brainwashing scheme.

Do the math.  What's going on is oligarchy, false flags in order to enact increasingly restrictive laws, false flags to make us believe war ($$$ arms contract$) is necessary, etc.  Anyone who realizes all this is indeed on the same side, and millions of people are waking up to it.
