What good is the right to vote a voter does not support any candidate running for public office?

Why should a voter use his or her vote to support a candidate for public office that they do not really feel should be elected to a particular position?   How is it best to vote for someone that may not be qualified for a public position good for the country?  Voting for the "lesser of two evils" or a candidate that "most closely represents my ideals" is like hiring a person for a position who is incapable of performing the functions of their position who will at the same time persue their own agendas using the company's resources to further their carreers rather than the company's well being.

Run yourself! Easier said than done I know. And since I am sure like me you dont have a billion dollars laying around to get the job it is not an option... or is it?

However, we listen to to many peaople say if we dont vote for the two party choices we are wasting our vote.... Why? maybe if people would start to vote for the peson that most represents what we want, it might just send a message and then maybe politicians will start doing their jobs, which is represent the people who elected them.

I guess abstain.  I have abstained on a few local elections  because they all sucked.  Get involved in politics, stay informed, read and write, go to meetings, join a committee...you get the idea..

The ones I love are on the ballot running unopposed.  They only need 1 vote to win.  What would happen if they didn't get that 1 vote?  I have exercised my right to vote "none of the above" more than once, although I get grief for that because I am told I am still just wasting my vote.
