Consumer sentiment in October is at its highest level in 5 years, according to the latest survey by Thomson Reuters/University of Michigan. Yet many people say the economy still stinks. Why is consumer sentiment so high if the economy is so bad?
I would put it down to the natural optimism of Americans and also to their ignorance about what is happening in the economy and economic policies that will be coming out of Washington. The holidays are coming and you can't help but think that things will get better.
