In Ausralia, not so many years ago, certain firearms weapons were banned and required to be handed in. Do you think this would work in the USA? Because of the recent tragic shootings. Could this be an option towards solving such tragedy's?

There's a lot of stats available about Australia's buy back scheme and a decade after the law was introduced firearm homicides fell by 59% quite a large decline (Per Australian National University Study) as well as 65% decline in firearm suicides.
And overall violent crime made no changes. Instead you get murdered with a different weapon. Overall suicides did not decline either. In Sweden every man is required a military machine gun in the home. They have a lower overall murder rate.
My cousin is Swedish and I heard about that. As a young girl, my father taught me and my sisters about guns from early ages. One night, my dad shot a burglar and held him for the cops. I was and am still glad that dad had guns (yes, plural).
Blaming a Gun is the same as blaming a bottle of beer when someone dies of a DUI which is just as a common.
More importantly than law abiding citizens apposed is that the law only works on those who abide by it. Criminals are able to purchase weapons steal them or buy them from the law tracking sources of illegal guns.
Why are so many unwilling to acknowledge this fact and willing to take firepower away from law abiding people? Criminals obviously don't care about laws and do as they please, targeting the unarmed and least armed whenever possible.
Our gun-related homisides have significantly decreased (59%) since the law was introduced. Do you think families should be able to keep high-powered weapons at home, fast firing weapons etc? I personally can't relate to those wanting a gun at home.
I am in agreement Nick. It can be successfully argued that since the semi-auto ban's expiration about 8 years ago, the number of crimes with these guns has not increased. If we had armed security in schools 26 people would have had a chance.
Well said... The media plays a HUGE role in tragedies such as this... I have been doing everything I can to avoid reading at all about this piece of garbage... but because of the news media it is impossible...
I am in total agreement. Why is it that billions of people cannot see that criminals and other deviants will always be able to get their hands on guns that law abiding citizens cannot?
Too many people choose to ignore warning signs and consistent odd or bad behavior of those around them. I don't agree with the kneejerk reaction of threatening changes to or the elimination of law abiding citizens rights to guns.
That for of blind trust is why the originators of our country decided we needed a 3 part administration to keep out a watchful eye so nothing bad would happen to the country. Glad it continues to hold back lots of the poorly thought out ideas!
