Are there other factors that should be focused on to help prevent other tragedies? Parenting? Discipline? Positive and negative reinforcement? Mental health care? Is it the guns or the people that are the problem? Is it just because guns were available that caused this tragedy?

Agreed. Like your new picture by the way.
Leah is a doll, through and through, but I miss seeing her smile.
Guns are not at all like knives. Imagine how different the outcome would be here if all the perpetrator had was knives.
If you disarm the public, the only ones with firearms will be your military, gangs, criminals, and local police...none of whom I trust. So, instead of a lone gunman storming into a school, you will have government storm-troopers kicking in your door.
Imagine how difficult it will be finding who killed who. I don't think there is a police officer alive who can say "this knife wound matches this knife". With guns it's a lot easier to catch the criminal. Thank you, CJ.
The bottom line is America is breeding morons and raising monsters. The problem is the belief system of our people...not guns themselves. Our youth watch all the violent movies and play the violent video games, then watches Uncle Sam storm into Iraq.
I agree with your second line, CJ. But try reading about Kennesaw, Georgia. http://www.wnd.com/2007/04/41196/ Their law is that everyone has a gun in the house. Their crime rate dropped 80% and stayed that way for over ten years. I love it!
I heard about this place, Leah. My question to you is "What is it about law abiding citiizens possessing guns, that is so worrisome to the criminal element?" This whole debate just boggles my mind. How can anyone think disarming America is the answer
I agree. By disarming ourselves, we make ourselves defenseless and more likely to be harmed. I just think they are too afraid of guns and things they have little knowledge of.
Leah: Did I understand correctly...that you are soon to become a mother? How exciting!!! :0)
Three months along. Thanks, CJ!
Congratulations, Leah, and may God be with you and your baby!!! :0)
Right you are, Kasman. You bring up many valid points and have demonstrated that you have a solid grasp on this subject. The truth is the gun laws that are already on the books are not enforced because the real plan is to eradicate gun ownership.
Children were chosen because that is the quickest way for the government to get people to buckle on this whole gun issue. I would not be surprised at all, if this "madman" wasn't brainwashed by the Department of Defense...just for this very purpose.
Possibly. Brainwashing isn't a conspiracy theory by any means. It's been used by many governments over the years to accomplish many political purposes. If you have public support, you can change people's freedoms.http://www.crossroad.to/Quotes/glob
Ridiculous comment! The Dept of Defense would do no such thing. The madman is an evil monster that knew it would be easier to prey upon children and that the media would make sure the world never forgot his name.
Wrong, my friend. The Joint Chiefs of Staff proposed a plan in 1962 to bomb some of their own navy vessels, plant false debris feilds, kill innocent Americans and hijack American jumbo jets, just to frame Castro and create a pretext for war with Cuba
There will always be death, therefore lets turn our places of education into fortresses?
Really, is this the best we can do? If so, there is no long term future for the race. We won't be happy until everyone is dead.
I applaud you. It would not have taken much for the CIA to brainwash this young man into committing this heinous crime. According to Congress, the CIA is responsible for a minimum of 100,000 SERIOUS human rights violations world-wide - every year!
Read Hitler's Professors. Details of how Socialists infected Germany's schools with socialism. Look at our schools. There are reports of kids coming home telling parents that socialism is good because they're learning it in some schools. Wake up.
Won't work. You see, the criminal element won't go through the proper channels - they'll just buy their weaponry on the black market or from the U.S. Army.
there's complacency talking. All it takes to keep guns out of the hands of criminals is to stop making them. Simple really. Radical yes, difficult yes.
Or we could just arm the teachers too. That'll solve all of it, won't it?
It would be suicide to cease making guns. Arming good people is a better answer.
I think we should institutionalize almost every employee of the CIA and FBI, not to mention almost the entire Pentagon and most of the White House Staff. Congress admitted that the CIA commits over 100,000 serious human rights violations each year.
The morons running the U.S. government do not enforce the 2,000 gun laws already on the books. They deliberately tempt fate, because they won't need gun laws when there are no more guns. They have been hoping and praying that this event would occur.
The problem with America is the people it produces. Not all Americans are bad, but just enough to bring things to a halt. Homicidal maniacs aren't born - they're made. The schools teach kids they're animals and then they grow up acting like predators
The problem is definitely with the people. Not too long ago every boy learned to hunt and many country boys kept guns in their trucks all the time. Now there is no discipline and no respect for anything including life.
Agreed. 40 years of abortion, U.S. government invading everybody and everything, rampant pornography, gangsta rap, divorce, latch-key kids, broken homes, evolutionary world-view, rise of secularism and humanism, etc. Our society is in rapid decline.

This young man was just doing what he was taught. He had been taught from a young age that there is no God or eternal implications for one's deeds. He was taught that his life was just a random act of chance and that he and the other kids are animals
There are no hard facts to back up to your claim. No one knows the why's it is all speculation, we do know he had access to guns and he used them. making up a history to go with it is wrong and helps no one.
It's not hard to connect the dots. He was an American: a godless, selfish, arrogant, cold-blooded killer, with no respect for other people...just like the government who helped create him.
Anton: How does an inanimate object kill someone? Guns are inanimate until someone decides to use them. The people who are doing the majority of shootings are criminals, not responsible gun owners. An unarmed citizenry is vulnerable.
