I find it amazing that the right to bear arms is important to so many Americans. With all of the political and social issues that we need to address in our country today, why does the right to bear arms receive more attention than all of the other rights we have given up for the sake of security and saving peoples lives? Should we not be more concerned about poverty, the homeless, our economy, creating jobs, and preserving human rights?

You hit the nail right on the head over and over throughout your comment.
I have to agree Mike. Hit the nail right on the head. Might have to follow this user :)
You wrote a great response without ever answering the question. What does the second amendment mean to you? Can you answer the question without using political arguments and assumptions that I am an anti-gun bleeding heart liberal?
Great comment, your points are well taken. I support the second amendment, I was curious about why it appears that debating an amendment that has not been touched as of yet is getting more attention than other rights that are being reduced or taken.
It is because of the effort being made to touch it.
Don't get me wrong I feel terrible when things like the recent shooting happen but restricting honest gun owners isn't going to change anything.
Better to address why they happened rather than how.
So why is the second amendment important to you? This is not an answer to the question, it is only an assumption of my political stance and a confusing statement about losing individual freedoms. I am not debating or advocating gun control.
