Do you check your Congressman and Senator's homepages to see how they vote on bills?
I check about once a month to see if they feel the same as do about bills they vote on. In the last six months my Senator has been in agreement with me and my Congressman all except two bills. If I don't like what I see, I send them an email. My hope is that people will get in the habit of doing this. This is the only way to find out if you are being represented . They can often get side tracked by pressure from their party and others that might not feel about an issue as you do. Send them emails listing the issues that are important to you and how you feel about them.
I will on some occasions. However, checking votes can be tricky. There can be a bill for motherhood and apple pie, but have an amendment buried in it that seeks to give a subsidy to apple growers because people are not buying enough apples, and the cost would be passed on to the consumer. Your congressman may vote against the bill because of the amendment, but he will be recorded as voting against motherhood and apple pie. Amendments and riders that have no real bearing on the main bill are often added during the committee process for the sole purpose of keeping the author from pushing the bill or forcing him to vote for something he does not like. Our system of government is good. The rules and procedures congress has adopted over the years need a major overhaul.
Yes, you are right that is why I always ask by representative why they voted as they did, if I disagree. Good point!
Yes I absolutely do and I also find if someone on the "opposite" side as me breaks with party lines and does something that is right and not just for the lobbyists etc. I make it a point to thank them. It takes guts for a politician to cross the aisle at times and I try to acknowledge that also.
I do wish people would be more involved, it would def make the US a better place and maybe, just maybe, get us back to a time where we were actually a government by, of and for the people.
I regularly get emails on legislation being processed in Congress and the results of votes taken by those who represent me. This tool is an important opportunity to keep up to date with actions in Congress. The tool is Gov.track and is an excellent resource to stay on top of legislation. I often also discover other legislation which is under the radar that Congress is considering that affects us all. The media does not always report topics important to us as citizens only what they feel are issues to be covered.
Thank you very much, I will definitely check out this site!

For all of you Republicans out there, how do you feel about Romney?I am genuinely curious about this. I know initially, the point of view people had was "We hate him the least" of the 7 of 8 people Repubilcans can choose from. Is it a vote FOR Romney, or is it just an...

How do you feel about the "safety police" governing our society today? I don't have a problem with common sense laws that protect us from each other, like no texting while driving, but it does irritate me that we have so many laws governing personal behavior, such as seat belt or helmet...

You know the pushy sales people in the kiosks in the mall? How do YOU feel about them?I'm talking about the ones that try to get your attention and then suck you in to trying their product. It's an old-school tactic for sales, and personally I don't like it. It's a no-win situation if you don't buy...

I'm not voting for Hillary Clinton because she has conversations with the ghost of Eleanor Rigby.
