If you had to elect a non-politician to be President of the United States, who would it be?

You can select anyone who hasn't held political office.

I may be prone to elect someone who ran their campaign apart from the two parties in power because both have become infective. America needs real changes not closely monitored minor adjustments. Our laws are from antiquated policies and standards written in the 1700's.A modern world needs modern laws and modern changes that don't seem to happen quickly enough in our stagnated corrupt plutocracy. A presidential candidate who knows that the state of our planet is more dire than the state of economics and who can bring peace to the entire planet before we destroy it.A leader who is not afraid to lead, not afraid to stand up to people look them in the eye and say "your wrong" with enough tact to change minds without conflict.

You'd have to be crazy to want to be president, so I wouldn't want to elect anyone who wants the job.  Instead, I say have a semi-random selection process like jury duty.  You do some pre-screening to weed out the psychopaths, criminals, etc. One day you open up the mail and find out that you're going to be president for the next four years.  Damn! How do I get out of this?

An administration of Bill Gates and Warren Buffett - it wouldn't matter who was on top. They are both intelligent, creative and forward-thinking and have so much money they can't be bought, and both seem to be trying to leave the world a better place. However, the real reason is because neither one of them would do it -- and that is exactly why they would probably do it well.
