Would you participate in awareness events for the forgotten (i.e., homeless, mentally ill, elderly)?

We all pass them on the street corner holding signs asking for help. Many are mentally ill. Adult care homes are filled with the mentally handicapped and the elderly who seem to have been forgotten by family, friends, and the public. Who will take care of them? Our current society seems to have little time to care. They will participate in events (i.e., walkathons, dinners, etc.) to raise awareness and money for breast cancer, multiple sclerosis, etc. If the event is for those that are forgotten... to rebuild lives, would you participate? Or, do you even care? Just a curious question. Thanks.

It's something that I'm learning quickly, Sherri. That is, people still have many barriers when it comes to certain "forgotten." Thank you for responding and serving those in need. :-)
