Imagine a world-wide protest urging all Syrian fighters to stop. What words would be on your sign?
If it were possible to engage the entire world in protest to fighting in Syria and alleviate the human suffering of those in the middle of it and the hundreds of thousands in refugee camps, what would be the slogans on the signs we'd carry? Please don't discuss the improbability, impracticality, potential ineffectiveness, or politics.Just visualize masses of people in Japan, Great Britain, South Africa, Brazil...with signs in all languages, marching in the streets. Close your eyes and see the signs. They would probably have from 1 to, not more than, 7 words. What would those words be?
My sign would say: "We are stronger when we are united!"
What about you?
Be Kind, have Compassion for your fellow brothers
Ronnytron, you presented an aspect I never considered. Do you mean us or the Syrian factions? Imagine if the world was united against war. Of course it's true no matter which.
My sign would be to Congress: "Want a war? YOU go fight it."
It's like we're being bullied. "Wanna fight?" No. "Why not, let's fight". No. Seriously, I wonder when we'll be able to stand up to these bullies...and why we're really powerless to do so now.
ah, you mean the "bullies" in Congress. Maybe it's because just like Vietnam, this situation is so incredibly complex that as a people, we don't understand it. But the Syrian woman who spoke at McCain's town hall meeting made a strong case against
"Thou shalt not kill". It's pretty easy to understand, no?
Syrian fighters or Syrian Rebels. Either way they will not stop despite what words the world uses. Syrian fighters fight at the order of their government--they have no choice.
Rebels fight for a variety of reason, including extremist muslim views (killing Christians on a regular basis)
So words will not do it, and I wish I knew what would.
Duffsmom, I know you're right. But I don't think we've ever really tried. I wish we'd just try. If it didn't work, all we'd lose is a day's work. If military approaches don't work, what we lose is incalculable in the long run. .

For the non connoisseur, it is a personal portable infrared homing surface-to-air missile. Its origin? The US. If someone seems to enjoy the attacks on the Syrian people it is the military industrial complex and by procuration our sweet Obama! Isn't their export strictly controlled? Any thoughts?

Do you agree with Syrian government in crushing the protest?Whom do you support - Syrian government or rebels?

What should President Obama do to help the Syrian rebels now that Assad has used sarin against them?Assad has used sarin (a chemical weapon) several times against his own people - this has recently been certified by Obama and Congress. What should be the U.S. response to this...

Sugar Ray Robinson is easily the best in my mind. Before he turned 31 years old his record read 131-1. He was the former welterweight champion and never lost at this weight. He also was a five time middleweight Champion and beat several Hall of Famers and great fighters for 20 years.
