Last I knew this is still a free choice when it comes to family size. I understand why someone would be upset by the opinions of those not using there words cautiously on this topic. My husband the eldest of twelve and me the eldest of four decided two kids was plenty and I can honesty tell you the size of the family we grew up in did have a great deal to do with this choice, but mainly it was because of the times. I love my kids and my grand-kids dearly, but I know my husband and I made the right choice for us. Given a better means to support a larger family would have made us think different.
Raising kids in the 70s was much more costly than those of the 50s and twenty years changed how many jobs were needed to make ends meet. Not many wives could stay home and take care of what should have been top priority to them like their children and their home. Most like I had to take jobs to help pay the bills. You paid someone else to tend your kids and you neglected household chores unless you were lucky enough to have a helping hand. Not many changes have occurred since then and more and more families still need both parents working full time outside the home.
