    Lets de-construct this a little bit.  1. China doesn't need slaves - they've got a huge population of their own.  2. China doesn't 'want' anything besides probably sustainability.  You could think of them as a snowball rolling down a hill getting bigger.  China and India are formidable economic competitors who will continue to play a larger part on the world stage. 

    Its always interesting to see how many Americans believe that if they can't have alleged control over things like international relations and economies, then the entire world must be going to hell.

    The US's role in world affairs will diminish as others rise.  You don't have to run for the hills, just accept reality and focus on creating domestic policies that are not protectionist.  Through the liberalization of policy, you can ensure that you are part of the future, as opposed to becoming a relic of a powerful past.
