Blacks are not the only minority to experience racism in this country. Many Hispanics, Jews, Asians, Arabs, and Native Americans probably could easily share some stories with you.
Having said that anyone who is familiar with U.S. history is aware of the slave trade, the "one drop rule", three fifths of man, Jim Crow, voting rights denied, laws against interracial dating and marriage and the like were not implemented by minorities.
However what makes this country great is there have always been people who stood up for those who have been mistreated regardless of race. This goes back even further than John Brown the white abolitionist who gave his life in a battle to end slavery in 1859.
Being a realist I accept the fact that racism is probably here to stay. Nevertheless no one can't deny that we as a nation have made major strides. We have several minority millionaires and a couple billionaires too. And whether one is pro or anti Obama he did not get elected president by relying only on a race that makes up less than 13% of the population. Millions of non blacks voted for him.
