How often don't you read about accidents happening at schools or homes where people are killed, by accident or purpose. Would the world be a saver place if it was difficult to get hold of a gun. And if you owned one you could be charged. If you think that owning a gun makes you saver, think again. If you are prepared to kill a burglar and live the rest of your life with the fact that you killed a men or woman who only wanted a t.v. - Do you have a gun and do you use it ? Should we live in a world where there are policemen in the schools.to protect our children from other children ?

Amen, my father had no qualms about protecting his family and shot a burglar. I may not have lived to tell the story if he hadn't!
glad to have you stay at home.
How odd that many countries where citizens don't own guns (e.g. Sweden, Japan, The Netherlands, Norway, Finland, Denmark) have really, really low crime rates. Yet they have all the violent movies and video games we have here in America.
Have you met any rapists, muggers, home invaders, burglars, mass killers, terrorists, thugs, white-sheeted bigots, wife-beaters, gay bashers, gangbangers, social deviants and anti-Semites of all kinds?
And did they tell you so personally ?
Zelkiiro, isn't it odd that the states in the U.S. with the fewest restrictions on gun ownership have the lowest murder and violent crime rapes of any in the nation? And those with the most have among the highest? Also, Sweden and Norway allow guns.
R K, I think you meant "crime rates"? Also, to your point, both Israel and Switzerland allow for widespread concealed carry and yet both have murder rates (1.8 and 0.6, respectively) far below the U.S. murder rate of 4.7.
LOL, woops! Yes, meant murder and crime *rates*.
If about 14% of the populations of Sweden, Japan, Norway, etc. were comprised by the descents of people who were treated, sold and traded like livestock, and victimized by harsh Jim Crow laws, their murder rates would be as high as the US's.
Peter, do you dispute my comment that these type of people all agree with you?
It's not mysterious at all, zel. First, when you compare direct crime to crime rates the US is somewhere in the middle. Second, if you factor out about 30 particular zip codes in large cities then the US crime rate compares favorably with any nation
Of course I dispute your comment jack, has there ever been a survey about this question among this particular group. Don't think so. It's populist talk. As well as your big if..if you factor out 30 zip codes...why not factor out all crime...!!!
Pete... it is good to have you on record that rapists, muggers, home invaders, burglars, mass killers, terrorists, thugs, white-sheeted bigots, wife-beaters, gay bashers, gangbangers, social deviants and anti-Semites prefer armed victims :-)
