What will we do when nobody wants to be a Police Officer anymore.

With all the recent problems involving Law Enforcement Officers I would imagine the waiting list for Police Academy's is declining. What will we do when the last Police Officers in the country decide to try some other occupation or retire? I'm not saying there are not some "bad" cops out there, but most of them are pretty fine people. The way things are going with the attitude that cops are guilty until they prove themselves innocent I can't imagine why anyone would even want to do this job anymore. When the last cop leaves, I hope you were in support of our second amendment rights.

Paula - Very interesting comment. Did the press broadcast any of the video of the drug dealers being back in business? I kind of doubt it. Thanks to politics we have some very incompetent people in high places all over the country. Thanks.

Great comment Tom. In our Baltimore riots one of the protesters stated on live TV, "Every time I get arrested the cops treat me bad." Perhaps he needs to look in the mirror to see where the real problem lies.

Tsad - I can always count on you for a great comment. I wonder what would have happened if they had all just gone home when they were forced to stand down. I would imagine the morale in that PD is at an all time low. I suspect many will leave.

Hi feenix - I hope you are right about this. There are some unfit and bad apples in most large Police Departments. Let's hope they are the first to leave and those you describe will stay. Thanks for the comment.

Old-Empresario - I too respect the job our firefighters have to do, but Law Enforcement and Firefighting are not exactly similar jobs and require different training. I respect cops and firemen for what they do and the risks they have to take.

Don't all have to leave for their ability to be a check on crime to dissolve.More lucrative? And who is it that pays that bill? The 1%?I doubt that.Nope, when the police become ineffective Martial Law is the next move.Constitution out the window.

Peter - Sounds like some good ideas to me. It takes a special kind of person to be a really good Law Enforcement Officer. Some things can be taught but others have to come from within.

Stargrll - You are right. From what I understand in some areas of the country the gangs are already running the streets. Even the media is now presenting our law enforcement as the bad guys. There will not be a happy ending to this situation.
