The Crusades were a Christian response to Muslims invading the Holy Land, killing Christians who wouldn't convert to Islam, burning monasteries, destroying cities. And aside from a few Crusader groups who sacked the wrong city, it was a moral response, because the local Christian kings who remained ASKED for the help.
ISIS is worse than the Taliban, in large part because it is more atrocious.
The Taliban oppressed a Muslim mostly secular state, and it imposed Shariah law. Oppressive to women, severe restrictions on men.
ISIS not only imposes Shariah law, but had Christians and Yazidis to impose the worst of Shariah law. Now you get oppression of women and the deliberate invasion of Yazidi communities to get Yazidi girls to sell as sex slaves, the military invasion of Christian communities to get Christian girls for sex slavery. And that's on top of the "holier than thou" PR effort, blowing people up on camera to advertise their holy state, killing homosexuals in the most dramatic way possible, killing 12 year olds who choose to remain Christian or say they are secular.
