Well.....This question just left poor ole Barack WIDE OPEN!........
The "Prez" hasn't done one single RIGHT thing yet, nearly ending his SECOND term!!
Poor schmuck, "Community Organizer," that he is........Since governors and Presidents do have the power to pardon, there's no question that they will do so at a particular time, under certain circumstances......
There are plenty of incarcerated individuals who are eligible for (and deserve) pardoning. Many may even be "innocent" of the crime in the first place. PAY ATTENTION TO THE RISING NUMBER OF PRISONERS WHO HAVE BEEN "EXONERATED' IN JUST THE PAST DECADE. People who were framed, railroaded, too poor to afford adequate counsel, victims of prosecutorial misconduct...imprisoned before the wonders of DNA...or stood before a judge who has a hair up his___.etc.
Then there are those who were given a sentence for a non-violent crime that exceeds the sentences of some rapists and murderers. Does this make sense to you? Does it sound fair? it doesn't even sound SANE! I'm on the same page with peeples! We need to get real.
I know too much and am too intimately involved with our Judicial System to ever have a problem with pardons.
Besides.....like I said initially.....Let's HOPE our POTUS can do at least ONE good thing before he walks off into the sunset from whence he came!
(Kevin.....you may want to reconsider your blanket & uniformed statement. Educate yourself on the law, and our court system. No flat statement such as yours is in fact realistic, humanistic nor is it Just.
I can assure you, if ever you were to find yourself in the wrong place, at the wrong time, associating with the wrong person, thinking you were just "minding your own business"....and woke up cuffed and stuffed with charges pending.....Your attitude would make an about face.....while you were "doing the time for the crime" you didn't commit!!) Get out from under that rock.
