A judge at the Madras High Court allowed a man who raped a teenager in 2002 (she was 15 then) to leave jail for a mediation session. He said that in another case where he had made a similar intervention, "a happy conclusion" was reached with the rapist "agreeing" to marry his victim. This is 2 different thing .. 'rape' and another is 'willing affair'. For me a rapist will be a rapist forever .. if he was tempted to attempt rape once possibilities of him repeating the act is always there.
Hazel, "Statutory rape" is still rape in the U,S.!
People go to prison for having sex with underage people all the time! Not all rape is forcible brutal rape.
A 12 year old boy/ girl can't have a "willing affair" with a 34 year old. Rape is rape.
That should be the only option .. Rape is rape .. no settlements ...
Rarely however will a rapist get the same punishment as a murderer. In the U.S. there is stature of limitation for even pursing a rapist ranging from 3 to 30 years depending on the state it happened. There is no such thing for a murderer.
