    Overhaul?
Probably not but a little tweaking is needed.

    Yes,
The government needs to follow the constitution, not a form of it. Courts do not have power to make law, yet they do. The press should be penalized for lying or at least miss representING the facts, and there should be no cheating in elections. Of coarse that is the only way for people to steal the soveriegnty of our great country. Water down then explode our greatness.
    Conservative = conserve our Constitution!
Liberal = liberate us from the Constitution!
    Which are you?

I suspect most people are conservative about some things and liberal on other things. The constitution is a "living document" which means it can be (amended) to reflect changing times. It's not written in stone like the 10 commandments. smile

It shouldn't matter whether you are R orL, The rule of law must be gollowed. There is a way to change the Constitution  ( in the law) I'm arguing to stay within. Our problem is that we haven't.

Yes it does and the first problem is people being pitted against one another - this isn't a sporting event of "liberal vs conservative" and as long as we are always sparring amongst ourselves, behind the scenes all the politicians repub and dem alike are serving their corporate masters.  Our country was taken over a long time ago by "special interests" and it has been to our detriment.  We need to overturn things like citizens united and get the dark money out of politics.  It would be nice to get to a place where we had only publicly funded elections and not big money manipulating elections on both sides!  It would be nice to rise above "sides" like we're cheering for a football team and all of us start thinking critically - but that's a lot to hope for.   I would also add term limits should be in place for Congress and Senate and it should be law that you can't walk right out of "public service" and into a lucrative lobbying position.

Great point! Billionaires & lobbyist decide which laws get passed and who gets elected more & more these days. Whenever people lose in elections or in court they refuse to accept it. Congress votes 50 times to repeal Obamacare; but no jobs bi

Only if you want a change from the last 240 years of politics running the country. The results of which we see today. The red and the blue are father apart today then ever, and their divergent ideology will not allow purple.

Politicians spend their time and energy, as well as our money and our needs working against the party in control. Their object is to be the party in control, and once in control again they tear down what the other party spent building up.

As long as this is the political game plan the country will continue erode and fail.

The branches of the US government are no longer checks and balances, they are in chaos. The Supreme Court has turned political, the Congress has fought itself to a virtual stand still, and the Presidency is taking advantage of the lack of an effective congress.

    Kaboom

The only problem I have with that thought is we have been compromising since the 1850"s. (German Enlightened Revolution)  We have law, why don't we follow it! Every time we do we find out how miraculous it is. When you compromise truth you get a lie.

      James
Maybe you can answer the question the I posted about the Supreme Court
What valid decision has the Supreme Court made.
We have too many laws and they are enforced unequally.

Yes, but it will never happen until the people overhaul their own beliefs of what the role of government should be.  If we expect the government to provide "free" goods and services and take care of us from cradle to grave then what we will get is an overblown out of control government that   exploits the trust and ignorance of the people to expand its own power.

If we understand the concept of individualism, that is that every individual has the same natural right to liberty, then we will understand that the ONLY role of government is to protect that right.
