   Why would the voters want Hillary Clinton in 2016?
   
   In 2008 she failed to even finish her campaign against Senator Obama. Then she couldn't even get picked as his VP. He was virtually unknown and he beat her badly. So why do we want to reconstitute the failed Hillary Clinton to be the US president?
   
   It is unfortunate, that we the people have been given such pathetic choices for the presidency, and instead of picking the left overs and heat them up, we should demand some new fresh choices. We still have a year left, draft someone new, and don't eat someone else's doggy bag.

   From what I can tell only {the majority} of Democrats want Hilary.
   In a two party system people tend to vote along party lines that support their agenda. For example someone who is favor of pro-choice, raising the minimum wage, cutting taxes on the middleclass while raising taxes on the wealthy, keeping social security and Medicare as it is not likely to vote for someone who against that.
   Our choices are defined by which candidates choose to run for office!
   A lot of Democrats probably are not going to vote for a "socialist" as their nominee. I suspect Bill Clinton's popularity helps Hilary as well.
   Many folks feel he did a fairly good job with the economy while he was in office. At worst he'll be able to help guide her.  Lastly some folks simply believe it's time a woman was elected.
   Hilary lost in 2008 because Obama had a better campaign strategy. He was also seen as you described "a new fresh choice" by many others. She was the "establishment" who voted for the Iraq War.
   They were both U.S. Senators at that time and Ted Kennedy anointed Obama over Hilary. He also used his youthfulness and talk of change to appeal to younger voters which saw him a departure from the past.
   This was actually a page out of Bill Clinton's book when he ran against the first George Bush. "Don't Stop Thinking of About Tomorrow" was his theme song and vote for the man from "Hope" Arkansas. Bill used a photo as a teen shaking hands with JFK.
   Symbolically sending the message the baton was being passed.
   A lot of folks still blame Republicans for the two longest wars we've ever been engaged in and the Great Recession.
   However I think stances against various social issues and cutting various programs is what keeps Democrats voting for their nominee. It's all about party agenda I suppose. Deep recessions change votes.
   As for past failures long ago there was a candidate who was defeated for state legislature, failed in business, had a nervous breakdown, was defeated for Speaker in his state legislature, was defeated in a nomination for Congress, defeated for the U.S. Senate, defeated as VP candidate but finally was elected president. His name was Abraham Lincoln!
   Ronald Reagan  sought the presidential nomination three times!
   Sometimes persistence is rewarded.

   Well, that is the most confusing criticism of Clinton I've ever read. Okay, I take that back, not the most... but still nonsensical. Why would not getting the nomination one year suddenly invalidate her from being a qualified president? How does that make sense? And VP pick doesn't go to "the second best candidate" - it's a strategic pick based on a number of factors, if anything, you wouldn't want someone as your VP who you butt heads with before. And whether one agrees with her politics or not, Hillary Clinton is well-qualified to be president (to be honest, one of the most qualified candidates experience-wise out of the entire line-up), and has generated enormous popularity among Democrats. Hillary didn't lose to Obama because she was unpopular, she lost because Obama managed to become more popular.
   
   Anyway, you can't honestly expect no candidate to ever run twice in a presidential election. And "didn't successfully become President before" is a very odd bar to hold any candidate to. Would you say the same of the Republican candidates who are on their second try?

   Like DashingScorpio's answer.   And he makes a good point with Abraham's Lincoln's eventually successes over so many knock-backs.
   
   I'm not a US Citizen and don't follow the politics of USA closely.  But remember, Winston Churchill was 'put out in the cold' for a long long time.  He came back at aged over sixty and proved to be the great leader he was in time of WW2.
   
   Personally, there are some qualities - or behaviors I don't like about Hillary Clinton.   But who is perfect?   If I were an American I would be voting Democrat...and I would be hoping that Hilary becomes the first woman president in US History.   It's about time a woman got in and the good old conservative USA caught up with the rest of the world.
