Yes, there is such a thing as police brutality.
No, I don't believe (most policemen) abuse their power.
Should a man be choked to death for selling lose cigarettes, an unarmed man be shot in the back for running away from a cop, or a unarmed woman with a child in the car be shot at several times for driving away from a traffic violation? No! That's extreme.
The role of police is to issue citations and make arrest, not to hand out "instant justice" or punishment. If a cop is under attack of course it's justifiable. However for a 300lb man to walk into a classroom and sling a teenage girl across the classroom because she refused to put away her cell phone is not justifiable.
Truth of the matter is (if her own father) had done the same thing on video tape the cops would have arrested him and most people would be screaming that the father should be locked away!
Not many of us would be okay with it had it been our daughter.
The federal government doesn't condone torture of terrorists!
We should not tolerate the beating and killing of unarmed citizens either. Body cameras should help protect the cops and assailants from false claims from each other.
