Many of my Liberal Christian friends are puzzled that, when speaking with Conservatives, they sometimes find themselves referred to as non-Christians and the Conservative perspective referred to as the Christian one. Sometimes, they even find themselves referred to as atheists, Pagans, or un-Christian people when they don't support the creation of evangelical Christian laws. Is this just a regional phenomenon? If you are an American Conservative, please explain why you either do or do not think Liberal or progressive people who believe in and love Christ are or are not Christians.

Please pardon my typos. I'm on my iPhone and I do not type well on it.
I love your answer. If it was in my power your response would be given a gold star award.
I live in West Michigan, and it's so pervasive that I used to have a few floral assistants who complained if they had to help deliver wedding flowers to what they called "non-Christian Churches." Thank you for your thoughtful answer!
I agree that the Bible is neither Democrat nor Republican but I'm curious as to why Democrats sometimes get referred to as non-Christians sometimes even when they're church-going Bible thumpers themselves. Thanks for answering.
I think Kylyssa that happens when an extreme group of people feel that holding on to the Old Testament is more important than following the teaching of Love your neighbor as yourself or not remembering that Love is not 'puffed up on its own'.

Thank you for your answer which I take to mean that yes, you consider most liberals to be non-Christians because they do not follow all biblical laws from both Old and New Testaments as you say you do.
It's not about the laws, its about the heart but you can't know God while being in rebellion to His commands.
What is your definition of "walking the walk?" I'm trying to understand why conservatives in my area call my Christian friends atheists, Pagans, and non-Christians. Thank you for your valuable input.
One clear example is some Catholic politicians such as Nancy Pelosi and Cuomo in NY and Kennedy MA and others, who consistently voted for ProChoice and support Planned Parenthood, the largest abortion clinics.
Thank you. Does it apply to all liberal political decisions such as supporting gun regulations and healthcare for the poor or is it only not walking the walk when the person supports the right to choose abortion or to use birth control?
It is too short to answer your question in 250 characters. Abortion was just one example. Most liberals don't have a good understanding of our Constitution. I suggest reading my hub on Civics 101.
Sorry, that 250 character limit is the pits. I'm off to read your hub although I'm not sure if the Constitution qualifies as part of the Bible or of Christian faith.
