As a lot of people say, this world is run by symbols. Symbols have meaning, shape our experience. I think it is crucially important to have a woman president at this time, when such an assault is being made on our beings as women. It would be such a wonderful symbol of equality for all  little girls to see,who still are shaped by the decrepit ideas of who they have to be. It's time, I feel it. And Hillary has been hardened by all the poison thrown at her. She is hard, but now not afraid to say what she was ridiculed for saying years ago: What we need in this world is more love and kindness. You could take a clue from that Sanders. Trump, forget it. We see how he treats people. I want a gramma prez!

Interesting answer Leslie, I just want to know your opinion as to why you say it's important that we should have a female president the int he WH?...( I totally agree with you btw.)

It hit me last night watching debate. Those men all want to criminalize abortion. Women cant drive in places, can't go anywhere without supervision, repressed, denied freedom. We need to be equal. And not pay homage to male superioriry. It's time to fly

I don't see Hillary Clinton as a female, she would be just another democrat president. There is nothing feminine about Hillary. She is a slick politician, and probably has more testosterone than most of congressman.

The only difference with her in the WH is what happens to ex pres Bill Clinton. He is going to have to suck up a lot of estrogen to be back in the WH.

So this would be a unique event where not only is there a woman president, but that the ?first man is an ex two term president.

I really hope that the voters aren't voting for Hillary just because she is a woman. as she was not successful in 2008 running as a woman. The democratic party shunned her in favor of a very inexperienced senator. A senator whose was great as campaigning, and fund raising. Now we are supposed to treat the recycled democrat as the president, it doesn't make sense.

Once again, it is not that Hillary would be a female president, it would be that another Clinton would be in the WH.

Odd choice if words. Shunned. They just picked another choice, that's all. I mean do you say that about Carson, Hucksterby, RMoney?

      Leslie
Shunned is the appropriate word, and Carson isn't in the same situation that Hillary was in during the 2008 campaign. Also she didn't even get the VP post. Trump is being shunned by his party.
      Your comments are odd.

If you say so. I don't agree. DNC wasn't panicking over Hillary. People weren't saying she's not a Democrat. They just chose Barack.

And what possible reason was Obama a better choice?

    5. lovemychris profile image75

Who knows? Those were different times then. Like I can't believe that I'm loving RMoney right now. Things change.

That is not an answer, and things are worse now,not better.
The country is still declining, and the congress is continually in gridlock.
Obama certainly wasn't better qualified than Hillary in any category except fundraising

It's my answer, too bad if it's not to your liking. And you really need to start adding I MO to your statements. They are your opinions, certainly not facts. Congress is in gridlock because of the tea party babies. Whining since 2008. IMO

You asked what reason Obama was a better choice. That was a lifetime ago. Stuff happens is very valid. But ok, me personally thought he was more liberal. He did not vote for Iraq war resolution, and he took a stand against guns. MY reasons only.

I am all for a female POTUS but wish it weren't Clinton. Trump is not an option for me. I'd literally vote for a name out of a random phone book or anybody else in this race, even Cruz (who I find excessively creepy) but yes, I'd vote for Cruz (though I worry he might be a serial killer) if he were running against Trump in the general.

By the way, Leslie, I think voting for a symbol only is tragic, not that I'm against it, precisely. I just hope one day we can vote for a woman because of the qualities of her character, her stainless past, her professional successes, her innovative vision, and second to none experience. I hope she also isn't part of an existing political dynasty. Sorry Laura Bush. Sorry Michelle Obama. Sorry Amy Carter.

Interesting. So because you come from those families, you cant be successful, have vision or experience? I'll text Chelsea and the Bush girls n let them know. Sorry girls:  the content of YOUR character is already determined by your dads.

    Wrong symbol!
If that happens, we will have a president who was above the law, a Teflon Donna, who ignored the rules for handling sensitive information, deleted materials that may have belonged in State Department files, and materials that needed to be available through the Freedom Of Information Act in assessing her actions as a senior public servant.

I, for one, would be sorely disappointed, if the scales of justice are purposely tipped in such a manner.

She had been taught what was required of her as Secretary of State, and she purposely went about doing things her own way, and when caught, despite her efforts to hide it, claims to not be accountable. She is and must be.

I don't know where you get your info, but it's like a foreign language to me. You do know that Powell and Rice did same thing? You do know things weren't classified at the time she sent or received them? You do know this normal in that world?

Time will tell when it is put to a grand jury to decide.  If it is not, my comment stands.  That is my opinion in a country where individuals opinions are allowed.

    3. lovemychris profile image75
lovemychrisposted 8 years agoin reply to this

Sure, unless people gang up and vote them down. But then why didn't Powell and Rice have to go before,GrandJury?Or will they? If its justice they're after, they will.If it political destruction, they will ignore former Secs of State who DID SAME THING

I just honestly don't want to see Trump be president...either sanders or clinton, Trump is just anther racist and ignorant person who only thinks about how he should get rid of Muslims in this country, build fences and sue people left and right for no reason..

I see Mr. Trump's abruptness as his frustration with the prolonged election cycle.  That's frustrating for a man who is accustomed to getting things done.  As recent experience indicates, we have had worse candidates and presidents.

Well do you honestly think that Trump makes a better president Ralph Schwartz? Trump's only experiences are suing people left and right and spending millions of dollars on a  wall... are you serious?

She'd be an affirmative action selection, picked because she's a woman, not because she's qualified.
And she'd be as corrupt as the Obama administration.

Oh really? Well I think men want Trump because he's a man. And they dont NEED affirmative action, they already have all the rights.

Leadership isn't found in skin color or sex - many other nations have women leaders and things don't change in an epic way

And you know this, how? I think it means the world for girls to know right off the bat they they are just as good as boys. Here, women are still second class. Make less, treated less. It's changing, but woman prez would put it over the top.

Well...the Secretary of State, is really the Prime Minister of the US (But we choose to call it a secretary of State, rather then Prime Minister). So, through what sort of Secretary of State she is, we can kind of see what sort of President she would be, if elected.

The US won't change because someone of a different gender is in office.  But Clinton as a person will continue the country on the path to ruin.
