I hear California is trying to give benefits to illegal aliens, what are your thoughts on this?

When an American commits an illegal act they are punished with fines, probation, and jail time. This stays on their record and effects the rest of their life. A person sneaks into the country and becomes an illegal alien, they broke the law getting here and break the law every day they stay here. Why are they not getting Punished? It seems to me that California is rewarding them.
What are your thoughts on this?

I am not sure if you are referring to the recent discussion of expanding MediCal and Obamacare to illegal aliens, which is the last expansion program being discussed in the California legislature. The expansion of Obamacare would not cost any additional monies as undocumented individuals would not be eligible for advance premium tax credits and would then have to pay full price for insurance.  Under the bill introduced in the state the expansion would not apply to any undocumented individual 19 or over.  Originally, it was going to include all undocumented until a economic feasibility study was done which would have raised the cost too high.  The increase for the first year was approximately 80-90 million to cover the children.  I am not from California and I believe the state elected officials should make the decision. However, personally I do not believe in punishing children for the actions of an adult. So if I were a CA resident I would support healthcare for the children.  Unfortunately, I see too often an all or nothing attitude when it comes to expansion of any type of social welfare whether it be school lunch programs, property tax rebates for the elderly, payments of social security above and beyond what was put in by the individual plus reasonable return because people are living so long, WIC, etc. If you are referring to another benefit, for which I do not include driver's licenses as it is not really a benefit, then I can respond to that.

My point was they are illegal, they should be punished and deported-not rewarded. This includes ILLEGAL children, no punishment- just deport them.. Illegal means they  broke a law, why  should they  go unpunished when people born here get punished..

I understand your point Vince, however, the discussion question was what is my thoughts on giving "benefits" to illegal aliens.  I was just giving my point of view to the question posed.

There is only so much money to go around, and it shortchanges American citizens to divide that pie between even more people, much less those who have not paid anything into the system or take more out than they will ever contribute.
