Do you believe honesty is the best policy?

. . . .more. . Is it, in your opinion ALWAYS so? Would you stick with that maxim if the stakes were high and you had a good chance of getting away with it, OR do you think that is all hogwash and is used to control the naive ?

Never say "never" or "always". People who deceive are seen as socially adept and sophisticated. Such people tend to mess with your head. The extreme form being a charismatic sociopath. Honesty is the best policy but don't use it to hurt or squirm.

Too right, Tamara White. The pendulum has swung too far right. I guess it wont be long and it will go the other way. Thanks for your input.

I cannot but agree VM. Sometimes one has to sidestep the stark answer rather than cause pain or discomfort, no? I appreciate your "honest" answer VM. Thank you.
