How Do You Feel About Paid Administrative Leave At The Taxpayers Expense?
I disagree with it beyond a short investigation period, like suspending an officer with pay for two weeks while investigating charges of bribery or a teacher accused of inappropriate behavior.
Longer leave is theft from the taxpayer. New York City's rubber rooms are an example, where teachers found guilty of sexual contact with students or threatening kids spent years on leave because the unions made it almost impossible to fire someone. For the money spent keeping several hundred people on the payroll without working, they could have added hundreds of real working teachers in the classroom, bought school supplies, new computers, etc.
"Paid administration leave at tax payer's expense" for ACCUSATIONS of criminal activity before trial is saying "here's a get out of trouble free card," it should be without pay unless PROVEN NOT GUILTY which would curtail criminal acts by paid officials. With PUBLIC trustees (see U.S. Constitution Article 6) in any position knowing they will loose the means of providing for themselves and families they WOULD BE more conscious of their responsibilities. Knowing they will only be given a slap on the hand and allow to continue being DISTRUSTED by the public they are paid to protect gives them free reign to continue without consequences for their actions.

The usual conservative scoundrels at the helm?I can't understand why it is so unreasonable to accommodate the fact that people can and do get sick? In industry as crucial as commercial rail surely this basic labor accommodation would be one we would expect to be naturally provided for. Seven...

Very fiscally responsible and is screwing the taxpayers. At taxpayers' expense, there has been 2 buses at 1.1 Million dollars apiece for this and a future tour. There are other costs like for security and more associated with these 3 days. Estimates run anywhere from $9 million to$ 15 million...
