Very true Jack Lee, thank you. But that economic system should be based on justice and equality, right?
yes, equality of opportunity but not equality of outcome. Justice meaning no foul play or crony capitalism. Everyone gets equally chance to succeed.
I do agree that equality has to be in terms of opportunities and justice has to be for and by the people, but what do you say about the source of dispensing justice?
That is the responsibility of a limited government. To maintain law and order and to insure equal playing field. No one get's special treatment. That is why we have police, FBI, SEC, FTC, ICE, ATF and many other law enforcement agencies...
True, to discharge responsibilities one should have some sets of principles and standards that help understand what justice is all about, what do you say about those standards and principles?
I would fall back on our Constitution. All people are created equal, and endowed by our Creator with life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness...and that justice should be blind and applied equally...due process...
Excellent Jack, wish we could realise accordingly and strive hard to achieve the same.
Excellent Spencer, you are true we have to work for an economic, political and social justice that is inclusive of all the world's people.
The left wing is the establishment, those protesting violently are on the left. The authoritarian left is fomenting violence to justify more power, the opposite of peace.
Thanks Greg. You mean to say people should be trained to be tolerant and patient?
To be respectful of others too, which should start from birth in the family.
Very true. Agreed.
The authoritarian left has said in the name of love and tolerance, debate is labeled hate and dissenting views shall not be tolerated. It also cedes the morality to the most emotional/irrational person in the discussion, favoring tantrums over talk.
Yoleen if it's so in a socialist form of government, then we need to understand the dynamics of corruption and in what way it helps is establishing peace in the society.
And the ones with the highest crime and riots have been Democrat controlled for decades.
I was referring to Scandinavian countries like Iceland, Norway, Sweden and Denmark.
Thanks Elijah, do you think self- centeredness is an obstacle for peace? It means it's a collective disease?
I totally disagree. It is good to be self-centered. That is our survival instinct. You cannot change human nature, but you can design laws that will keep it in harmony with the society at large.
Self-centerdness is the obstacle for peace. Peace means nothing if I am the only one that has out-survived everything else that I exploited for my own self-gain. Laws are only as valid as the truth that animates it: e.g. slavery vs. 19th amendment.
But what do you day Jack if the self centeredness crosses the self-limits and harm others?
You are mis understanding me. You need to read Milton Frieman's book Free to Choose. He explains it better than I can. Greed is good to better our own lot but in the process make society better. The rising tide lift all boats...
I already read it so I understand you quite well. The book is a treatise on libertarian economics but peace is built upon more than financial interests. Greed is a daily experiment all over the world. The experiment has failed over and over again.
Where has it failed? The only failure that is proven again and again is socialism and communism. Capitalism is the only free enterprise system that builds wealth and prosperity for the greatest number of people.
You are debating a person who is not arguing about capitalism, neither am I debating economics in general. I am speaking about self-interest & global peace.
