Why should Mike Pence refer to David Duke as 'deplorable' just because the media says he should?

The media is chastising Mike Pence just because he refuses to bad mouth someone just because they say he should. In my opinion he just refuses to stoop to the level of the left. Just because David Duke is one of the worst people imaginable doesn't mean someone has to call him names.

That is totally a leftist ideal - calling everyone names. Once you start playing their games you become one of them.

Of course David Duke is the worst of the worst. Everyone knows this already. There is no need for Pence or anyone else to draw more attention to Duke.

It's so funny how the extreme left wingers are forever calling someone some sort of bigot or another. They are using the tactic so much and so often that it is diluting the negativity of actual bigots. And of course the obvious thing is the extreme left is just as bigoted as the extreme right.

But, no one forced them to say what they did like they tried to force Pence to say what they wanted.

Isn't trump the one who comes up with names starting with Cruz and the other candidates.  It's funny how people try to make a big deal about Hillary's emails but are quick to dispel trump's lies and scandals and racist remarks.

Those are just nick names, and David Duke is not running against Trump. If he were, he would get a nick name.
While the left likes to call anyone not them, Racists, Homophobes, and Deplorables.

In our current media environment, he made a huge mistake. If he calls Duke deplorable right away, the issue goes away.  End of story.

Pence did what the media wanted by not calling Duke deplorable.  Now they can reinforce their own position that he is a bigot.  Remember, Trump and Pence already have your vote. They have to appeal to the "independents" who might be swayed by what they see in the news media.  That's just reality.  Duke invokes revulsion  (rightly) by almost everyone.  Why prolong the agony?

There are certain things you have to do as a politician.  Never hesitating to call a white supremacist a name is PR101.

Would you like to be forced to say something you don't want to? Even though you might feel that way, maybe you don't want to stoop to their level of name calling. I, personally, am proud of him that he didn't stoop.

Greg, it's part of being a politician.  Comes with the job.  I have to do a lot of things I don't want to do.  If you want to win, you gotta do it.   Calling Duke a name is not rude. It's expected.  Pride does not win elections.

My point is, that Pence did NOT want to say it and they hounded him to say what he did NOT want to say.

That's thestrategy, media always tries to get people on the right to say something they don't want to say so if they won't say it,as in this case they'll say Pence won't say Duke's deplorable so people likeLMCwill say Pence approves of Duke.

In the land of free speech, Pence can say what he wants -- and so can the press.

Personally, after reading David Duke's book -- there is no doubt in my mind that he is a racist liar. His sources, attributing higher intelligence to whites (and I'm a whitey) were discredited about 50 plus years ago.

Free speech ain't purty, but politically correct sensitivity is akin to censorship by the polite police.

This website will not allow free speech, but I'm okay with that. It's their cookie jar.

I am not OK with free speech being muffled anywhere at anytime in America.  I am also not OK with force or coercion nor any sort of demand or threat to make anyone say something they choose not to.
The whole nation knows Duke is KKK. Old news.

They also know what he is and what he stands for. Pence didn't have to say it just to appease the left. Thank you Paula.

The problem with the news is that they don't accurately report the news. And they editorialize it. And they seem to do it as if they were part of the extreme political left instead of being the non political reporters of events.

Because Duke is a racist who thinks slavery was ok. He still preaches white supremacy. Pence is wishing for the black vote. Dream on!

Ruby, Duke is the worst of the worst, but I still don't feel Pence should have to call deplorable just because the media and the left want him to.
