People on HP often debate about allowing hate speech as it is (allegedly) "free speech" . However the law has banned hate speech for hundreds of years as defamation, slander, libel etc. It is merely harder to enforce the law on the net. So is hate speech similar to slander, defamation and libel? Is a person merely commiting a crime when using online hate speech and just trying to get away with it? Is such behaviour also the criminal charge "contempt of court"? Is the hate speaker just an online bully trying to evade prosecution?

So what is your definition of the legal term "libel "? Isn't the term "hate speech" merely the new online word for "libel"?
No, because too many liberals are classifying all speech they don't like as hate speech, so hate speech is coming to mean "that which the left wants to censor", not libel.
You didn't answer "what is your definition of the legal term libel?"(!)
