What are your thoughts on Bill O'Reilly leaving FOX?

The O'Reilly Factor, a long running conservative talk show, is being pulled off of the air on allegations that host Bill O'Reilly harassed former employees (FOX has already paid a settlement of $13 million in lieu of a trial and the possible negative press.)  Is this another example of a double standard?  Is Fox news going down?  Was this a knee jerk reaction on unsubstantiated claims?  Is Bill being treated unfairly because he is a white male host?  What are your thoughts?

Good riddance! Fox should have fired him long ago. I hope Hannity is (next for stupidity and incompetence.)

The liberals just hate fox and seem willing to do anything to weaken the station. I think a lot comes from the rest of the media also since Fox made them look bad during the elections and were backing the winning candidate.

Let me begin by saying that I like Bill O'Reilly and his show.

Most the decisions such as this are strictly based on money.  When I read where O'Reilly had lost 60 sponsors I knew the trouble had just begun.

If Bill is innocent and FOX paid out $13 million in settlements with no proof of his guilt than they are part of the problem.  My thoughts are that FOX is throwing O'Reilly under the bus to please the sponsors that stopped paying FOX millions of bucks.

The only problem is being able to dig out the real truth of these accusations without water boarding all those who have now come forward.  Life would be much simpler if we could just ask people to tell the truth and they would.

This is just another case wherein we will probably never hear the real story.

The number was actually closer to 90.  I think FOX is still scared from the earlier sexual harassment cases and other pending ones - I don't expect they'll get squeaky clean after this one either

Fox News is restructuring its executive ranks, when they forced out Roger Ailes, former Chairman and CEO of Fox News, it was being fast tracked to becoming another CNN - MSNBC - tow the line propaganda site.

I wouldn't worry about O'Reilly, he is wealthy, and will be even wealthier after a few more book deals.

Now Bill will be back to those days when he was a simple teacher. The difference is now he has a better pension.

This is a symptom, of something that has been going wrong for a while now... I no longer watch fox, and it has a lot to do with how its come closer and closer to being in line with MSNBC & regular ABC, CBS, talking points.

It is in effect, IMO, not much different than any other MSM site... it may take a while for its watchers to catch on... but this is the 3rd 'host' they have dumped in less than a year...

As someone else on here said, Hannity is probably on the chopping block as well... I think the fact that Trump was elected saved his job (temporarily) because even if those running the network don't like Hannity's expressed beliefs and how he does his show, the fact that they can use him to get interviews with the President has significant value.

I watch OAN and Bloomberg for my news these days... I stay away from all MSM sites, all they peddle is propaganda and crap not even worth hearing about... news about what is really going on, abroad, with our economy, with laws being passed, etc. comes from OAN and Bloomberg they report things that MSM doesn't, every day.

My husband sometimes watches OAN, and all I've ever seen there are a bunch of pretty-face model news readers -- until the other day. I actually thought I was watching Fox. There's been a shift. Maybe Bill O'Reilly can get a job there.

Glad I could be of help Mike (& anyone else), once I started watching OAN and Bloomberg I really had no use for Fox or any other news source... I like facts & news... not shouting matches and piddly stories of no significance fed by FOX, MSNB

RJ....The wording of your question leans a bit "kind" toward Bill.  He's "leaving?"  Yes, he is because he was "FIRED." People tend to "leave" when they're fired.
He has little by little throughout the years become more and more of a liability to Fox News network.  I don't feel the need to get into the details and back them up with the damned PROOF that readers are always demanding.  Anyone who can read, can also find the facts of this story.
It was on the radio, every single station one might listen to, ALL day today.  Same story, same names, same background, same accusations, same findings, same pay-offs.....no matter who was reporting the story.
I was traveling today and happen to be listening, switching stations, hoping to find one that wasn't going on and on about the big Bill O'Reilly scandal-firing.  Most of it is old news.  It's just at this point, finally become the proverbial "last straw" for Fox News Executives.  They're all done covering for him and paying off his accusers.  Ole Bill wouldn't stop his behavior...he refused to learn his lesson and of course, failed to accept that he really isn't the god he sees himself as.  Happens to the best of the ego-maniacs.  Too bad. So sad.
Double standard?  No.  WHAT double standard?  Is Fox news going down?  Perhaps, but it can be saved with the right replacement for O'Reilly.  Had they not fired him, they were guaranteed to go down.  Knee jerk reaction?  Let me repeat....this has been Bill's style for years.  Because he's a white host?  How the hell does race come into this?
What are my thoughts?  I believe they're pretty clear.  Misogynists eventually get their due, one way or another.
Too bad after all these years he must leave under duress & ugly circumstances....BUT, it's all self-inflicted.  He'll get by just fine.  The man is a multi-MULTI-millionaire.  I'll shed no tears for Bill.

It was sad to see this as the legacy of Bill O'Reilly. I am one of his regular audience and I agree with his many positions but not all. I like the fact he challenges people of power especially in government. His many subjects and comtroversial topics are what makes him different and edgy. He is willing to take on those topics at great risk. I always thought he was a target of the left and that he should be more careful in his public and private personna.
I really thought he mishandled this problem. When this revelation first appeared, he should have addressed it honestly and forth right on his show. He should have ask for an independed interviewer such as judge Janine to interview his accusers and expose the facts and let his viewers decide. If he misbehaved and abuse his position, he should apologize publicly and ask for forgiveness. If he did nothing wrong, he should have stuck to his guns and not settled. By settling, it gives the impression he did wrong.
He has done many good deeds in his charity and his many books. He will be missed. In hind sight,  He should have retired last year and write. He is a talented writer and much better communicating with words than verbal jousting. I wish him the best. If people can forgive Bill Clinton for what he did, they can certainly forgive bill for much less.

I'm not impressed with "Good deeds" when they're strictly for publicity & fame (which they ARE!) and his books? Well they made him a fortune, now didn't they? Neither charity nor books gives a man the right to harass &/or abuse women. Period!

Yes, I am a woman. So, this may surprise some, but I believe that there is no there, there. I think that there was a problem with Roger Ailes, and that opened the door for opportunists to follow. I have watched Bill O'Reilly for a number of years, and he is as proper as they come. True, you don't know a person from what you see on the TV, but my impression is that he would not engage in the type of behavior he is being accused of.

I also agree that it is all about the Benjamins at this point in time. It seems that our society is going more and more towards this tactic. If you don't agree with someone, you boycott. That's all fine and good, but too many people jump on board without getting all the facts.

I actually read the account of one of Bill's accusers. There were at least a half-dozen things she could have done differently (that frankly I would have done differently), rather than have the end result be what it was. It seemed like she was setting him up. For example, if a man gives you his hotel room key after you have gone to dinner and the theater with him, and you are NOT interested, then you throw it in the trash, and possibly complain to human resources if you are that concerned. You do NOT go to his hotel room in person to return it, and then be "offended" that he answered the door with his boxer shorts on. That's just plain dumb. That's my opinion, however, and again, I never met the woman in person.

Those are just a few of my thoughts. Perhaps its time to write a hub?

Some of the accusations that are being made on all these men are a little ridiculous. Some women are getting way to sensitive as is the rest of the world, to the point where a man is afraid to even pay a woman a compliment without fear of being sued.

Milo, Tomi Lahren, O'Reilly....the Conservatives are being taken out one by one...what a coincidence!

Yet it's perfectly fine for Lina Dunham to admit to molesting her sister, and her career is still intact.  Clinton did what O'Reilly did and nothing happened to him.  Liberals don't care what people do as long as they are progressive, like them.  Everyone else is fair game.

I believe this is all a ploy to shut down conservatives in general, so that soon there will be only the left to report anything.  People will only get the "left" side of the story, and will be indoctrinated.  But in order to do that, they have to eliminate their enemies.

    Ben Shapiro is probably next.

I don't like Bill O'Reilly. As a feminist woman and liberal though, I think when a woman makes an allegation about sexual abuse, and others pile on, it's more about money than anything else. Maybe in time there will be proof, but now his career is destroyed. Not that he needs the money.

I think alleged victims of sexual abuse should have less years to come forward with their allegations, or shut up.

The only point of concern is to see why such protest was not taken up earlier itself? The violet an organization of women came on to the street that he has been harassing women employees especially the former employees. What about the employees who came after them? Definitely, there is a hatch that has been plotted against him. A criminal conspiracy mudslinging on his reputation. But, why? This is the only question that needs an analysis from various angles which miserable will never be brought to light and there is no hope of it. Suffice it to say that he once had the backing of Mr. Trump. Take everything knitting from the political angle keeping the developments that have taken place since Mr. Trump assuming the office of the President of U.S. The role of the opposition should never be underestimated. This is nothing but firing a gun resting on somebody's shoulder.
