Isn't the US political mess proving how people know more what they don't want than what they want?

Like in a ravaging verbal frenzy anyone from the mainstream media to those armchair politicians keep ranting against who-and-what they don't want in their political reality. What makes it peculiar (to avoid any stronger word) is the fact that hardly anyone is suggesting a "more desirable" course of an action. It seems like a collective proof to the old human truism that we are masters at criticizing--- and pathetic ignoramuses about what it is that would once and for all make us satisfied. Any thoughts that wouldn't merely mean some more ranting?
