My view is economic strength is and will continue to be the most important strength for a country. While national defense is important, it is a protective force. Growth through colonization is long over. 1. Infrastructure - economic activity requires infrastructure. Our roads, bridges, electricity, and internet systems (to name a few) are old, vulnerable, and lagging competitors like China. 2. Education. The global economy is a knowledge economy. Think of every child as a lottery ticket. Who knows who the next Jobs or Zuckerberg will be? No child should be thrown away, ever. Thoughts?
