Why the Democratic Party did lose the iconic Seat of Massachusetts to Republican candidate?
it might have to do with government enforced and run health care. they have it and don't like it. i was a long time resident of mass. and the policies of that commonwealth drove me out. just before i left they added another .25 cents to a pack of cigarettes. before it was inacted but after it passed, ol' teddy broke ground on a new mansion in martha's vineyard.the state taxes on smokes don't go to health care and are not put in for that reason. they are put in to increase revenue and help the powerful stay in power. that's why the people of mass. has had enough with the liberal train of thought. it seems they could not for any reason turn their backs on the kennedys, but there are no more running and they finally breathed a sigh of relief and choose the right path. it cost too much to live there and something has to give.
People in America are ANGRY!!! We are frustrated, feeling ignored, and frankly insulted by those WE elected. We The People spoke loud and clear on election day in MA, but look at how the Obama White House has responded! They learned nothing and heard nothing from the voters in Massachusetts.
Being from Massachusetts, people are tired of the many taxes that have been raised in this state. Voters were also disgusted with the State Congress changing the laws for election after Kennedy died, to keep in Democrat to vote for the national healthcare bill. They had changed it several years before, also at Kennedy's request. The Congress here is overwhelmingly Democrat. Also, people here do not like the national healthcare plan, at least b/c of its cost. We already have universal care here, and its cost is out of control. Also, the Democrat candidate took people's votes for granted, and assumed that she would win b/c she is a Democrat. People in this state, as everywhere are very aware of the extreme national deficit and debt, and are tired of Congressional spending.
H.P, hello! I apologize for not weighing this question back in January when you asked me. I did not even know that there was a site listing personal questions until today. I know I have been here for a long time, but I kind of go my own way and don't think about much but expressing myself in heart language or reading hubs by others who tend to do the same. You are one of those people. I have not read one of your hubs in awhile. I will have to zip over to your site and see what you have to say about the world at the moment.
I think the Democratic Party lost because the Tea Party went into the state full force and surprised a lazy Party politic. Seriously! I think that many thought it would never happen in Massachusetts. It was a wake up call.
And Americans like to point fingers. We have gotten to be experts on passing the buck. In this case, Obama's election timing was unfortunate. He was plunged into the deep end, as we used to say in my Red Cross lifeguard class.
Brown isn't having an easy time of it. No politician is. It is a contentious job for people with more stomach than I!

I am not an American, but what goes on in the USA is important to the world.Lincoln was a Republican and freed the slaves. One would expect black Americans to generally vote Republican. But they don't.How did this come about?

It is an example of the hypocrisy of the left. They believe they protect black people, except for black conservatives. I know black conservatives who have been lectured by white, female, liberals about being black. If a white liberal says anything racist about a black...

In recent decades, the Democratic Party has become increasingly leftist. Examples of these are the decriminalization of marijuana, lax rules regarding criminals-there are no jail time for petty crimes, & the proliferation of illegal immigrants to the United States among other...

The obviousness that we need new leadership in Washington has never been clearer. The corrupt Crony System that has long ruled DC got its way and thrust upon the American people their selected stooge (Biden) who, as of this year, has been involved in DC politics for 50 years... 50!!!Biden first...
