   Anyone know what are the minimum legally required questions we have to answer on the US 2010 Census?
   
   Because I really don't want to give more information than is absolutely necessary.  Some of their questions seem like an invasion of privacy.

   The questions ARE an unconstitutional invasion of privacy.  The purpose of the census, as stated in the Constitution was to count -- only -- the population so that the House of Representatives offices could be allocated to the states depending on the count.
   
   ANYTHING else is for corporate marketing and political control purposes.

   I am always surprised at how "freaked" people seem to be at the prospect of answering questions.  "That's not what our founding fathers set out in the constitution!"
   
   Try looking at the previous census questions.  They asked the  head of household's name in the very first census in 1790.  Why would they have done that when the constitution that they had written just a few years prior didn't say they could do this?
   
   Look at the 1840 census...  There were 28 questions!
   
   Look at the 1850 census...  People were asked about the value of the real estate they owned!
   
   Evil, evil census takers.

   All the census asks for is your name and birthdate. What is invasive about that? If you have a birth certificate, social security card, or identification card of any kind, the government already knows.

   The number of legally required questions that need answers depends on the form you receive. YES, different people receive different census forms. Certain forms require only three complete answers to satisify the Census Bureau. It all depends on the form in front of you.

   Actually all they need from anyone is just a (number) that is it.
   The word- count. To be counted only. No information.

   I believe the instructions said (on mine) that all questions applicable must be answered. Obviously if you only have 2 people in your home, they can't give you crap for not filling in the info on the other 8 available sections. It is true, though, that they unjustly ask more than what they should. Don't feel bad, because I didn't like it either. Although it is true that they already have everyone's info, that doesn't mean that they remember to check you out... This might remind them of someone they were curious about before, or might try considering fugitives or terrorists if someone doesn't turn theirs in. They know every address, so they could easily send out some crazy agent to investigate... lol. government conspiracies! AAHHH!

   The way I figure it, if the Census really was a legal matter then it would be addressed to me specifically and not "resident of such and such".
   
   What are they going to do when the takers come around? Check my DNA and finger prints to verify that I was the one who touched the envelope? Do they have a spy satellite that takes detailed photographs of me from space a I go to the mailbox?
   
   If so I'll have some eye candy for them on my 28th birthday and I promise you they won't have a census question for that particular statistic.
