Split it with my better half so I don't spend it all. Would try to do some good with it by investing it wisely. Have seen quite a few people that inherit money, first thing they do is go out and buy a bunch of toys that sit there and depreciate. Next thing you know they are broke and selling there toys just to make ends.

A million dollars?  That is "chump change".  One needs at least US$10,000,000 to be wealthy.  Raise your sights, folks!  :-)

The first thing anyone should do is to look into getting it out of reach of the parasitical tax collecting bureaus.

The second thing is to initiate a learning about managing your money.

    Third, whatever....

Thanks my friends for all your comments.  As I am allowed only one comment here by the system, I shall elaborate a lttile bit and also share my thoughts.

I know US$1 million is not much.  But still not many have this much.  I don't.  So this is a realistic figure for the average person.

If I have the million, I shall do the first 3 things:
    1. give some to deserving charities, and help others in need.
    2. change my old junk (car)
    3. invest part of it wisely

Get it out of the reaches of the unpredictable and ever changing tax code.  (if that is possible)

    Start a charitable micro-credit foundation

Find a way to get others to get a million bucks just like me.

The three things that I would do if I had a million dollars!
Well first I would pay off all my debts then I would invest it wisely and finally I would half all my investment profit and donate it to charity or 50% of all my earnigs which in turn would give me a good tax break and do some good deeds as well.

    1. Find out how much money I would have to pay in taxes.
    2. Pay those taxes
    3. Of the remainder, save half and then make a bucket list for the remainder.
By paying the taxes I would not have to go to prison like that naked guy from Survivor, Richards or whatever.

A million dollars is a small sum arrived at by means of winning an award? If so the three things I would do are: book myself a regular beauty therapist/hairdresser, book myself a regular movie ticket, book myself a new camera and some photography hot spots (travel included), and put those photos for a slide show of some sort. and some in the kitty for daily expenses because eating is a necessity.

1.) Pray that the money would not change me like I've seen it do to so many people.

2 ) Invest some so my money is working for me and growing.

3 ) Find a local organization that needs donations and give them a donation.

3).  To start own bar business
so if, get profit... i can buy everything

Give it Away!   You' re better without it.  Help others first.   Learn to grow it to help others that are impoverished in India,  a child without a home or food,  homeless in your own back yard....help a soup kitchen or bring them food, buy a digital camera for someone in a poor land than can make a living from it. Before, I  had  3 million dollars.....now I realize,  so sorry to say,  I am better 'without it!'   but I can always grow it back again if I really need it to help others.  But I can do this everyday to so many if I look.  In a way its so bad the economy has gotten 'bad' its  'good' too if you can look to see all that part of it and how it can truly benefit you.

You guys think big.  I would pay off my debts, take my friends to dinner, and buy some new clothes.  The fourth thing might be more ambitious.

Number one would be to buy a new car. Of course, it'd be something I'd keep for 10 years probably. Second would be to pay off my house. Why have a mortgage if you don't have to? Third would be to invest the remainder wisely so as to not have to worry about money going forward.

1)Use it to make another million dollars.
2)Then invest heavily into solid start-up green tech. companies.
3)While investing into other tech. thats established.
When you have money, investing can be the same as giving to charity by investing in green tech. and tech. that is genuinely trying to make the world a better place and/or simply provide a positive and financialy beneficial work enviroment...
