Why Doesn't The Left Protest America's War In Afghanistan As They Did Forty Years Ago In Vietnam?

Where Are The Likes Of Jane Fonda, The Weather Underground, Students For A Democratic Society, Etc., Today? What Is The Difference Between Afghanistan And Vietnam? Does The Left Today Bravely "Talk The Talk", But Are Afraid To "Walk The Walk"? Has The Left Become Comfortable In Their Wealth? Are Their Heirs Lazy?

Unlike Vietnam there are a couple of reasons why you don't see any protest.

    1. America was attacked on 9-11
    2. There is no draft.

    That's pretty much the difference.
No one from Vietnam blew up buildings here or announced intentions to destroy America and no one is being "forced" to join the military as was the case during the draft.
Being in the military today is Voluntary!

There are a couple of reasons....In the time of Vietnam, there was a mandatory draft requirement so most every young male was destined to serve until the draft lottery lowered the odds for those who drew high numbers for their birthday.  Secondly, there were a lot communist radicals behind the youth of America urging them to protest and misbehave. The ensuing chaos played more to the disruption of our society than to the desires of the students but they were too dumb to understand. The radicals are still around and still at work but they recognize that Afghanistan does not carry the passion of some of the other issues which they can attach themselves to...i.e. illegal immigration.  Soon, you will see riots and burnings on some of the streets of our cities inflicted by illegals and latinos who have been pumped up by these radical elements. This will all play to supporting the government's position to seek amnesty rather than border security.  The fear that it creates will cause some in our population to urge the government to include these people in our society as opposed to punishing them for their illegal efforts....it's a place those high in government already want to go, it is just a matter of facilitating it with the American people. The physical cost of this war is not shared as Vietnam was because of the draft.  The Afghanistan and Iraq wars are being fought by a very small percentage of Americans.  The rest of us act like there is no war.  If you wanted to end these wars just tell the politicians who voted for them that their sons and daughters are going to war next month.  Better yet send the politicians.
