What is the big objection to growing industrial hemp - as a viable alternative to tabacco - in...

the US? Could it be that some large agri/industrial concerns don't like the idea because hemp virtually grows itself (it is a weed afterall) and doesn't need to be sprayed with tons of herbicides and pesticides: products that they make a lot of money out of? The argument that cultivating it would send the wrong message about marijuana consumption is patently pathetic.
