   So apparently the super wealthy have issues with anyone making less money than them on a pretty prejudiced level. I don't see the difference between this and having a Negroe only door. But you know, they make more money than everyone else so it's ok.

      This was humorously covered on the Colbert Report, which I happened to see this morning.  It was clearly a re-run, and the story has evolved since then.  But I had not heard of it before this morning, and I found his coverage of it amusing.

      Well, it is analogous to the AP level classes and regular classes.  Students in the AP level classes often have little contact with those in regular classes. In my high school, students were separated by A, B, and C classes.  The students who were in the A classes seldom, if ever, had contact with students in the B and C classes.   There is a hierarchy in society in one way or another.   
      
      Neighborhoods are separated by socioeconomic classes.  Seldom do wealthy people live side by side with the middle class and poor.  Even the middle class have their own enclave of neighborhoods.   The poor door is just a reflection of this on a minor scale.  Wealthy wants to stick with wealthy.  Each socioeconomic class is more comfortable with its own where there is a commonality.

         I was an AP student and had friends from all levels. The classes were always mixed when it came to electives. Plus, we were required to volunteer through the different honor societies and I tutored and helped all academic types. And the appeal to tradition fallacy is strong!

   This is the first time for me to hear about the "Poor Door".  LOL.  In New York of all places.  When I lived in Las Vegas some big hotels on the stripe have a separate entrance for the rich.  This probably goes on lots of places.

   It appears we may all need much more information on this situation, the building itself and a few other pertinent facts before jumping to conclusions and harsh opinions based on one article.
   As it is written (and perhaps intentionally so) it makes it all sound elitist and discriminatory.
   Any number of neighborhoods in cities and towns all across the country have a mixture of every income level, race, color, creed, orientation, etc.  The exceptions to this are the enormous differences in very wealthy, gated communities, owned by the 1 percenters and the stark plunge into the ghettos, where poverty exists.
   I read some of the comments to the article and one woman made a logical statement.  per the article, The structure is actually 2 separate buildings in one.  One with market value (expensive) units and the other (economical) for lower incomes...this woman said,"If the building had both entrances in the front of the building, with 2 separate doors, side by side...each to their own building of this structure, not a thing would be controversial about it."  The fact is, she's right.  That's very true.
   There will be more stories on this matter and the news media will run to cover it all.  Perhaps we'll get more feedback as to how the actual tenants view this and what they have to say.
   If it turns out to be a matter of blatant discrimination of any type, class, race, whatever.......I'm going to bet there will have to be some changes made.

      I heard about this watching The Daily Show and The Colbert Report. They showed prominent wealthy men giving extremely prejudiced statements in regards to this event. I just picked the first article that was on Google. We will see what happens as it unfolds!

         Fred...This is the sort of stuff that really fries my a$$.  We can look at this story and be outraged at the audacity......but the truth is, these snooty-nosed elitists/mightier than thou/plastic phonies pay no attention whatsoever to the screaming angry little people. They know there's nothing that can be done to stop them, deter them, or hurt them.  They LIKE it that way....and fully intend to keep it that way.
         
         I try not to concern myself with places other than our own country, because America is difficult enough to keep track of.  But the reality is.......where ever we can go in this entire world, there  ARE the haves and have-nots. I mean, just look at the Middle East. Multi BILLIONAIRE bastards who live in "Palaces" and outrageous luxury......while throngs of the masses literally starve and go naked...just miles away.
         
         It's the greed and evil of man....the total void of compassion and respect for all life......and to take it to the furthest degree of inhumanity.....they have the FRIGGAN nerve to Flaunt it.
         
         So ..if this building in question is a blatant Flaunt by the Money mob......in the face of the poor public....in 2014 America, we can only HOPE something is done to turn this around.

            I agree with you. I really work to be objective and logical when I make decisions. Every decision I see based off of prejudice ideals leads to illogical conclusion. The world is pretty much built on that foundation and it is very disheartening.
